The second Uitvlugt this evening. And this one is very elegant. A very sweet, fruity and spicy nose. On the palate, a subtle woody spicy nose at first, which later changes to fruity. A very pleasant mango aroma and perfectly integrated alcohol..and a lovely long dark finish. The perfect companion in the evening

Hard to get your hands on but I was lucky to get a free sample. A very nice and well balanced rum. Woody and fruity with some caramel, chocolate and there is a hint of a medicinal note.

A great uitvlugt here. Tropical fruits are recognizable on the nose, but it's also very rusty and you can smell some coffee. On the palate, it is predominantly woody for me (barrel), but you can also taste coffee and dark chocolate.

Most fruits on the nose out of the ’89ers I tasted. Works very well alongside some herbs. Very nice one. Less fruits on the palate leaning towards darker notes. Had the most intense palate today. For now my favorite of the vintage.

Two 1989 PMs in the glass today. The 31-year-old RA from 2021 and the 31-year-old Distilia in crosstasting. The Distilia felt like it took hours to finally open. The nose is very similar to the RA. Nevertheless, there are noticeable differences. It is a touch darker with a distinct bitterness and a polish note that I did not perceive so prominently in the RA. The tart aromas of black tea, grapefruit and citrus peel are somewhat more present here, along with a little more roasted aroma. As with the RA: aniseed, herbs, apple, wood, h. The nose has more angles and edges than the RA. That makes it a little more interesting. In the mouth, the Distilia is much more wood-driven, with a clear bitterness and without the crumbly ripeness of the RA. The finish is similarly long and, like the RA, somewhat one-dimensional, but more bitter and less fruity. All in all, I like the RA a lot better, even if the nose of the Distilia is much more exciting.

9:On the nose, variety of fruits bump into our nosetrils like overripe mango, banana, yellow fruits and raisins, slightly flowery molasses and a lot of roasted wood notes with nuts, marzipan, spicy with allspice. On aeration, the fruits are also candied, joined with citrus, red fruits and prunes, the molasses is herbaceous, slightly dark with black tea, tobacco, pairing coffee, dark chocolate and nougat...very balanced 8,8:On the palate, the attack is quite spicy with pepper, dry and slightly tannic, fruity with dried fruits like raisins, prunes, tropical notes with mango and red fruits with raspberry, the wood is toasted with nougat, dark chocolate and pastry(Tiramisu), slightly resinous.On oxidation, the molasses is herbaceous, fresh with black tea and flowery, pairing fruits like dried apricots, sour cherry and citrus fruits, some rubber might be present. 9:The finish is rounder, long with dry&tannic, spicy roasted wood notes, fruity with notes from the palate, as the molasses is light, fresh with tea, herbaceous.Menthol is pleasantly interwoven in other notes...

A really great heavy rum that needs its time in the glass. Very fruity on the nose with tropical fruits, but also raisins and sour cherries. Also wood and dark chocolate. The palate is dominated by wood, dark chocolate, spices and coffee. The fruit note is more perceptible in the form of dried fruit, even if a mango note develops at the end. The finish is again very barrel-heavy with notes of black tea and bitterness. Great cinema with perfectly integrated alcohol!

Beautiful fruity nose, also a certain marzipan sweetness. Allspice, toasted barrel and a great mango note on the palate. The rather low ABV is not at all disturbing here. Significantly better than the younger MPM Marques.

Oh wow, a really great rum. There's really nothing more to say about it. Despite its low ABV, it leaves nothing to be desired and doesn't seem too thin or watered down. The perfect accompaniment to a cigar.

Online tasting with Rum Explorer, Matt Pietrek and Mitch Wilson tonight! This MPM opens on roasted note, kitchen spices and vegetables that would have been cooked in the oven. The palate has the dried fruits I was expecting, it's hot and spicy, kitchen spices and chili. Follows with wood and black tea. It's good, but I feels somehow closed on itself.

Needs time in the glass to develop its full aroma. Then you are rewarded with roasted coffee, a light amaretto note, raisins and tropical fruit on the nose. Dark chocolate, coffee and a pleasant spiciness are noticeable on the palate. I think it could have taken a little more %, then it would have been even more intense. Nevertheless, a great bottling. The finish could be a little longer. However, I personally find the 450€ that is being asked for these days too much.

Rusty raisins on the nose. Perhaps a hint of marzipan. I don't really like the first nose. I find the menthol note dominant on the palate. Quite spicy, almost sharp. With a little time it naturally becomes more pleasing and also tastes better. Slight deductions because of the nose. Lost 0.1 in the night tasting

Like a board! For my taste, the rum has already passed its zenith a while ago. Still very pleasant and interesting on the nose. But in the mouth, and even more so in the finish, it is very challenging to discover anything else besides the wood and roasted aromas. Second tasting: The nose is really very balanced and beguiling! In the mouth it is also more pleasant now, the pressure from the alcohol is perfect, not too much and not too little. But then comes the Brett again, bitter substances, barrel... Too bad, otherwise it would have been 90+.

Finally, this board for today. A very tasty rum at 31 years old. The nose reveals lots of fruit such as sour cherries. The taste also has fruit and a hint of marzipan. Truly a top class rum

Beautiful dark red colour. On the palate it is a delicate piece full of floral notes, dried sherry fruit. It then moves into chocolate, buttercream, prunes, fudge, and a woodiness of old wood on the finish. A very good rum.

This series is definitely very good for the guys from Distilia. This piece is at the beginning sympathetically fruity, almost unusually so for the 89 vintage, it gradually turns into sweet chocolate notes, the wood comes in at the end and lingers. Very nice!

Very nice 1989 Uitvlugt. Black tea, relatively fruity, decent wood (but not at all too woody or bitter), light honey sweetness, herbs. You hardly notice the alcohol. Very well balanced, but maybe the bottling could have brought out even more with a few more percent.

Beautiful, aromatic, sweet-fruity-tropical PM. On the nose tropical fruits: apricot, mango, molasses, demerara sugar, wild bee honey, milk chocolate, tropical wood, dried herbs. Beautiful, captivating, delicate and tropical. On the palate sweet-spicy, warming, with excellently integrated alcohol. More nuts, bitter chocolate, espresso, spices on the palate. Medium-long finish, candied fruits and spices. Wonderful rum!

Plus some hints of fine wood oil. Let's feast, shall we? Palate Smooth and gentle, rounded and sweet. No this ain't no lullaby, but a 31 years old rum with 47,3%. The alcohol is almost invisible. We find the sweetness of the apricots and a pleasant bitterness of grapemark. Oh, and there is honey too. But rather an exotic one, than the one's we know from our climes. this rum would be an ideal digestif after a heavy meal.
