Les Frères de la Côte La Favorite Navigation 2021 - Cuvée No 1 2020
People who already love cask-strength agricole will get the most out of this one. La Favorite's grassy, vegetal cane comes through clearly, layered with honey, citrus and young oak pepper. At 67.6%, the alcohol can dominate early — several drinkers say it needs air and time in the glass to settle and "manage the horses."

Intense, vegetal cask-strength agricole that needs air Loved by agricole fans for its honeyed, vegetal cane and intensity, but the high-proof heat splits people — a few couldn't get past the alcohol even after letting it open up.

Review by Émile Shevek
Warm and enveloping nose with notes of vanilla and pastry, roasted hazelnuts and gianduja, a hint of leather, tobacco, wood and some citrus, delicious. Intense and explosive on the palate with roasted hazelnuts/janduja, pepper, mountain herbs/resin/mint, dates, citrus zest, floral and woody with some cognac on the medium-long finish that then leaves a dry/woody/amuffy aftertaste that lingers even after tens of minutes. The abv is excellent and appears to be 15 degrees down. In the empty glass wood, fermented and floral.

Too hard to get into it, the alcohol taking over, too bad we feel a nice potential but I did not manage to appreciate it.
Review by Bob le téméraire
An incredible discovery! Very attracted by the nose, I was afraid of its alcohol content. It is quite balanced even if it is better not to start the tasting here... The story is superb, sailboat without engine, aging during the journey, in the old way.

One of the worse rum of my collection to sip. Tried multiple time but the alcohol integration is really bad. Tried to drink a glass of it beforee a snack, had to stop, tried after the snack, same, tried again after a meal. Could not finish it and I just emptied in the sink instead of forcing myself to finish. Not sure what to do with the bottle except trying to mix it. Really disapointed in this one

It’s a step up for me from the no. 2 example. Rich and brooding mouth with real hints of honey and vegetal notes on the nose melding in to more balanced but full power pepper and spice on the mouth. A robust and full finish with honey and oak pulls all together well. Solid and full force sipper

Aucun plaisir, l’alcool est omniprésent et le tout manque d’équilibre.
Review by Jean Louisss
Beautiful attack that it is in the nose or in mouth, the cane of the favorite is immediately recognizable. There is a certain acidity brought by the lemon throughout the tasting and all this is sublimated by a rather pleasant young wood. It is a good rum rather spicy.

Très végétal, avec des notes de miel et d'iode. Une belle intensité.

Trial 2: Reminiscent of cognac with mint, pineapple, citrus, green apple and date nut along with lots of wood and pepper. Tends to round thing but here would still be potential upwards I think.

Pour un très jeune déjà bien marqué par le fut avec de superbes notes de miel et fruits secs

Intéressant, un gros brut de colonne bien végétale qui rencontre une touche de bois avec une belle tram La Favorite.
