Sip this neat — it's a cask-strength Long Pond that rewards patience. The nose stays closed for ages, then opens into overripe pineapple, melon, vanilla and marzipan. On the palate: sour fruity esters, oak, sweet pastry and black pepper, with the 56.4% woven in soft. Several tasters found it more balanced and elegant than a typical LP, a couple wished it hit harder.

Amazing rich, yet mellow fruitiness on the nose. Sweet, fruity on the palate combined with some spices. I don’t get much of any LP bacon/meaty notes - just some smoke at the end. I like this very much. Add-on: RA / Nobilis / TRC: Very nice and mellow fruity notes with honey in all three. TRC is noticeable more woody/aged on the nose, however. RA most fruity and powerful on the palate. Nobilis somewhat tamed with noticeable less fruits. Wood and some smoke enter the picture. TRC with very nice combination of wood and fruits. Most elegant of the trio. Nice vintage/mark for enjoyable Jamaican sippers. 😊

Very rounded profile with an exceptional balance of fruit esters, heavy sweetness reminiscent of pastries, vanilla oak, light spice, and pleasant roasted aromas. Still a bit restrained on the nose, the rum then fully opens up on the palate. Great selection, an excellent drop.

Blind tasting. Yeah, I guessed Jamaica but couldn't pinpoint the distillery. I really didn't like the nose of this rum (vomit? 😳), and at first the palate wasn't great either, but it kept getting better. Later on, I found it kind of delicate, I mean: balanced and light. I would never have guessed LP with this profile.

The rum can do a crazy trick, you open the bottle and it smells full blast like Jamaica, but in the glass it is surprisingly closed - even after hours. There are fruity esters. Pineapple and overripe melon, but also a fruity vanilla like you might know from Barbados, plus sweet pastries and marzipan. On the palate, sour, fruity esters hit, reminiscent more of stronger marks, peach iced tea, the smokiness of curry leaves and some bitterness from the wood. Alcohol remains very soft the whole time, the finish rather short and mild with a slight freshness. This is on the one hand quite good, but on the other hand I can't shake the feeling that much more would have been possible. Update: Almonds, almonds everywhere. In the nose, in the mouth, in the finish.

This is a really nice Long P9nd bottling. Not only do we have beautiful esters and lots of overripe tropical fruits here, but there's also some vanilla and toffee joining in.

Compared to tasting various great value for money rums, this rum unfortunately falls clearly short. It lacks strength. Overall not a bad rum, but the others were simply much better. Still very good in the end, but just barely.

Tried as a 2cl sample. On the nose dominate fruits, wood and yogurt. Very similar in taste. Alcohol is well integrated and a great finish.

Atypical Long Pond profile. Nose and taste, if I had the rum blind, I would have identified it as Hampden. The grilled pineapple is there, but the smoke is missing, then a fruit basket and a long finish. The alcohol could be better integrated; a slight bitterness in the finish also prevents a higher rating. However, this is all criticism at a high level.

04-05.11.2022 Den Danske Rom & Whiskyfestival 2022. Another return to this big event where many people go to get drunk. Once again we had a special event for a select set of people. Notes. A fresh and well balanced release. Lots of rotten fruit with medium esters and light caramel. The finish is very long and is lightly dry.

Solid 2000s Long Pond with most likely a lot of continental aging. Overall a bit too spicy and sour like slightly burnt hay. Still nice funkiness and creaminess, as well as a pleasant sweetness but overall it doesn't fully convince me.

On the nose: Soft and balanced mixture of light esthers,vanilla,pastries,light overripe pineapple and maybe mango fruit. Taste: Mouthfell is soft and bitter first and then gets creamy. I get oak first and then spices like blackpepper and ginger. Sweet pastry and vanilla is there giving little bit of sweetness in the end. These is somekind of medicinal/estery note in the body that doesnt work for me. Finish: Acidic, barrel notes, little bit of black pepper. Finishes creamy and soft. After nosing, i have to say that i was dissappointed and some notes st the palate didnt really work for me. Little bit of unbalanced.

Nice Jamaican with fruit and light wood spice. A bit flat despite the 56.4%, probably mostly aged on the continent. But clearly weaker compared to tropical VRWs (direct comparison with the TRC 2005 VRW).

Takes forever to open up. But then a true variety of aromas. On the second taste, typical Jamaica but then again not quite. Also has a spicy side that reminds more of Barbados. I really liked it.

An aggressive little long pond. The acidity is on the brink of being too much. But boy does this have a kick! Everything is in the edge but stays on the good side of things. I sure as hell enjoy this one
