Gunroom Navy Rum
Most people reach for this with a splash of water or one ice cube — at 65% it can turn sharp and peppery neat. It's a smoky, woody navy blend (people guess Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana) with banana, exotic fruit and nutty notes. Several call the smoke heavy, sometimes too much, but the fruit underneath keeps it interesting.
- Smoky and fruity
- Good value
- Works as mixer

How does Gunroom Navy Rum taste?
Aggregated from 51 community reviews.
Smoky, fruity navy blend that runs hot Well-liked navy blend for the money: smoky, fruity and warming. The catch is the 65% isn't always cleanly integrated, and the finish stays short. A few find it too sharp neat.

Nice solid, easy sipper navy rum. The alcohol is integrated well. Nice mix of various fruits and woody aromas. I think it‘s a blend of jamaica, trinidad and guyana. Isn‘t it? This one lacks in complexity and also the finish is quite short

I find it a little too spicy/peppery on its own. I don't think the alcohol is really well integrated. But I also like to use it as a mixer. A tad better than the Smith & Cross. Thanks again to Lot-NAS for the split with the reasonably priced mixers I needed them for.

Tasted this one at a rum cruise at the Baltic Sea. The representative told me it’s a blend of rum from Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana and Barbados and that the blending takes place in Sweden.

A fine blend of English rum that leaves no one indifferent. With a little aeration, the nose offers a pleasant exotic-fruit flavour. The palate is very (perhaps too) smoky, and if you're looking for copper, you're in for a treat! But all in all, this is a high-quality rum offering good value for money.

My first navy blend, chosen because of some good reviews and the reasonable price. A nice combination of spices, bourbon and a nice load of fruit on the nose. Some vanilla and slightly smoky. The palate is then mainly smoky and pleasantly bitter wood. Plus a slight fruity aroma. I actually quite like it, but it's probably not for every day. A little less smoky and I would really like it. But great value for money.

Blindly, I would have said that it could be an agricol. Very fresh and floral. Then also fruit and a hint of pear. In the mouth banana, fruit but also spiciness and a little alcoholic. Medium-long finish, mineral and alcoholic. The name says it all: this stuff could have been drunk on the Gundecks in 1655 :D

For the Black Tot Day I'm too late but the Gunroom here is a worthy representative of the Navy Rums. In the nose still dominate wood and neat smoke. On the palate, the rum shows all its diversity and strength with lots of fruit and a nice nuttinessThis is fun. Only the finish could have a little more profile, but is also a blend there come through diverse influences.

A good Navy blend and excellent PLV!He is of the somewhat heavy strong kind, but quite pleasant! Would be the fruit flavors on the palate even more noticeable... he would have easily gained a few points!

A strong smell, somewhat fruity and alcoholic, also slightly smoky. The taste is somewhat fruity, slightly smoky, strong and warming. The finish is long.

This could be a rum flavoured window cleaner. Industrial strength alcohol with rum cask aging. Of course there are some fruits, spices and a bit of wood. But it is way too sharp and watering it down also diluted the few aromas way to quick. But it comes in a really nice bottle, though!
