Very well-balanced Agricole at the highest level. Cocoa, dark caramel, coffee, barrel notes, and spices of nutmeg, pepper, and vanilla meet fruit notes and leather. Very complex with exquisitely pronounced Agricole aromas, the rum shows strength but catches every alcoholic peak immediately in its full-bodied flavor profile. Taste-wise quite close to the 98 BdF profile; for me, it even edges it out slightly. Rum at the highest level, a top-class Agricole.

Very woody rum, alcohol well integrated, but on the palate, not much. Definitely lacks body. A bit of a glug-glug rum. I question the point of making a cask strength if the palate is not up to par. Way too expensive for what is offered.

One of the best agricole i’ve ever tried! Lovely nose of various fruits, roasted, a bit of wood and hazelnuts. In mouth it continuos with the amazing mix of fruits, woods, nuts. The end is really smooth and medium long. The alcohol is integrated very well

Totally awesome! Sour cherry, mint, dried plum, leather, citrus & glue on the nose. On the palate, an absolute blast of cherry, red currant, sour cherry, mint, leather & mocha with spices and nice woody tones. Really a beautiful thing and an absolute flavor bomb! The alcohol is perfectly integrated, not too woody and nicely complex! In the finish, it could just be a bit less bitter burnt, herbal and astringent for me, but that's nitpicking at a high level. Amazing stuff!!!

Among all the brut de futs from Bally, this one selected by LMDW is the only one for me that manages to mix the typical fruity notes of the millesimés with the dark and barrel scents of the other brut de futs! From the meeting of these comes a masterpiece!

A classy rhum agricole, with a dark, elegant and complex nose. The woodiness is intense and noble, followed by spices (vanilla, pepper, cinnamon, licorice). There are hints of dark chocolate, coffee, cigar and leather. Fruit, discreet at first, then develops into raisin and dried apricot, followed by red fruit notes (cherry). Vegetal and floral notes are light, allowing the rum to express itself without being too bitter and agricultural. The attack on the palate is particularly woody, but very elegant. Dark notes of coffee, spices (notably licorice), dark chocolate, tobacco, roasted notes and leather make this a slightly bitter rum, but deep and intense. Fruit brings balance, with notes of orange, red fruit and dried fruit (grape and prune). The floral, vegetal notes of sugarcane are secondary. The alcohol is very well integrated. The very long finish opens with beautiful fruity notes (cherry, raspberry, raisin, prune, orange zest), then continues on the palate with dark, spicy and bitter notes to the fore. An intense, elegant, well-structured rum that deserves its title of nobility.

A beautiful, roasted nose. Red fruits. A slight animal influence. Alcohol very well integrated. Wet branches with a few drops of water. Much too strong without dilution. Complex spiciness. Woody - but just not too much. Long, beautiful finish. A very good, spicy Agricole.

Tasted in comparison to RX10626. The longer the aging, the more RX10626 falls behind, it remains at a good 84 points. RX10625, on the other hand, becomes more spicy-woody in a pleasant way on a strong base, somehow like a Demerara on Agricole. Crazy! But I really have to take a few longer breaths first.

Elegant Agricole with ripe, complex aromatics. On the nose sugarcane, oak and dried fruits, accompanied by citrus zest and a light herbal note. On the palate powerful and structured with vanilla, wood, spice and a hint of cocoa. The alcohol is present but well integrated, giving the rum depth and balance. The finish is long, dry and finely spicy.

This is one of my top 5 Bally releases. Well balanced and intense with fruit amd spices. I like the chocolate, coffee and licorice mix in there. The empty glass has wonderful flavours after an hour or so. Good enough for me to order a bottle 😊

After a long time, back in the glass again. Great mix of bitterness from wood, cocoa, and mint, plus fruitiness from sour cherries. Great balance. Very tasty Agricole at a very high level. Absolutely recommendable.

Oh man, what a fine Agricole, just the COLOR alone is outstanding :-) really beautifully cherry-like, but it really tastes like that too. Really a very tasty, good rum, I really find it top -:) Delicious.

Butter and varnished wood on the nose with fruit; acerola, kumquat and greengage. Leather and bitter herbs. The attack on the palate is frankly alcoholic, but immediately the fruit blossoms with the other aromas, spices, young wood and a slightly earthy side. The finish is very long and harmonious. All the aromas finish in unison, and the woodiness is elegant. An old tropical wooden house with lots of fruit baskets emerges from the empty glass, with a hint of smokiness that was previously discreet. A very fine rum, but far behind the splendid 1999 brut de fût.

The second tasting confirms the impressions from the first. But I still haven't really warmed up to Agricole Rum. So the rating stays as it is. p.s. I also found a resinous note and bitter almonds on the palate and finish. The nose is initially closed, then very complex. Compared to the 43% version, clearly more complex and even spicier but not so easily accessible.

Wet wood, old wine cellar. Reminds me of good Armagnacs. Slightly smoky finish, typical of Bally. The 57% is good for him, I always found that questionable with the other Ballys because they were so low.

Nosing starts off with a robust and concentrated profile. Winecellar notes: dried fruits, must, wood and more than anything - it smells old. Leather jacket. Phenol. Earthy and lightly smoked. However there is a leafy, vibrant heart to this. Bark and licorice at the very end. After a good while, some lively fruits appear. Cherries, both ripe and unripe, orange peel, and red apple. In the mouth untamed, spicy and roasted. The wood continues and remains manageable. The spices, however, are cranked to a 100% here. Much more vanilla upfront, with a vegetal umami and peppery background. Dominant licorice and more leather jacket. The fruits turn much more concentrated to raisins and prunes. It’s tannic and wine-like. In the throat immediately musty and surprisingly herbal with notes such as basil and oregano. Finish is medium in length and holds an excellent balance between fruits, herbs, sugars and spices. Very well executed rum.

The second Bally for today, 4 years older and with nearly 58%, I guess a bit more of everything. Nose: oh yes, strong and intense, fruity-spicy-woody but also slightly sweetish. At first, I get scented cherry wood in my nose, accompanied by fruit notes towards cherry, plum and sour blackcurrant with orange and fresh citrus fruits. Some sweet licorice and this sour note also remind me of molasses syrup (although this obviously has nothing to do with it). The spice is a mix of nutmeg, clove, anise and vanilla. All very dry, voluminous and round. 88 Palate: wow, strong and intense, spicy-woody. Scented cherry wood. Dark chocolate and cocoa powder with a slightly bitter wood acidity come to mind first. Right behind, but immediately also a fine orange note with plum and blackberry. The acidity gets a bit minty and nicely transitions into creamy chocolate and slowly turns into grassy sugarcane with soft licorice, at the end everything is enriched again with dried plum. Really like it. 88 Strong and voluminous Agricole, wonderfully intense and round.

Full proof versions are definitely the best agricole rums ! A complex nose with a perfect balance between round and dry notes. On the palate, quite woody, dry and bitter with some hints of burnt caramel but still some round and fruity notes to balance the profile. Amazing ! Different but, as good as the 2004 from Whisky Live 2023 😋

A magnificent nose, very dark, with a very roasted and burnt side, but yellow fruits and citrus still emerge after aeration. A mouth far less fruity, with a lot of wood and bitterness. You have to like it but I like this assumed side. A very nice finish.

Great rum, really good. Nice crisp agricole markers. Has something sparkling-fresh despite the long aging. I find the fruit-roast-wood combo very appealing. In the bouquet, I like the syrupy sweetness, which further enhances the taste.

An absolute bomb in terms of flavor diversity. From nose to finish, you're treated to a wild potpourri of red fruits, dried plum, mint, dark chocolate, sugarcane, licorice, coffee, and wood – and those are definitely not all the flavors you can perceive!

Nez très agréable. Le bois domine. Une sensation de cuir également, de la vanille. En bouche, l'alcool est parfaitement intégré. Bois, tabac, café, chocolat noir. C'est sombre. Et c'est très bon. Une amertume et une astringence se développent en fin de bouche, de façon très agréable. Pas au niveau du 2004 mais superbe bouteille.

A good Bally. Woody but as a 15yo agricole Is expected to be. On the nose, besides wood there is chestnut honey and caffelatte. The coffee will be back drinking where the tannic side is here but not unpleasant, leaving the flavours to find their way, coffee but also chocolate and spices. With water gets a lot better and funnier

Today, comparison between Bally 2006 and Bally 2004. Similar markers are found (tart fruits, woody aromas) but the 2006 is more balanced, fresh and fine, whereas the 2004 is more extreme with jammy fruits, vinegar and burnt wood. I prefer the 2004, especially on the nose. But both are excellent!

On the nose it is warm and enveloping with scents of forest, cocoa, floral, vegetal and vanilla, I like it a lot. On the palate it is woody, full-bodied and dense, with licorice, leather, again floral/vegetal notes, a bit of citrus and spices and a bitter aftertaste with dates, cherry, coffee, root and a bit of toasted almond on the finish. Wonderful. In the empty glass wood, roasted and cocoa. I mixed it with Bel'air21 and the result is even better, the bitterness disappears and the floral/vegetal notes round off completely reaching a score of 94

Small tasting with Kevin in Blåvand 🇩🇰🏖️ Sensational Agricole, these bottlings from Bally always manage to impress. On the nose, at first light vegetal aromas with a hint of mint – I was a bit worried at first. But that fear was unfounded; on the tongue came a full load of red fruits like cherry and currants, plus deep spice with barrel influence, without feeling harsh or even bitter. Overall, a very complex bottling you can spend a long time with and that was really fun.

Now I finally have this 15-year-old Agricole aged rum in my tasting glass. The color is already great. A clear, radiant tawny/mahogany. On the nose, immediately this spicy sugarcane combo. Barrel notes and behind that fruits. Fresh and red-berry-like. On the palate, alongside the spicy, roasted barrel notes, come the vegetal and herbal accents. Everything underpinned by a fine sugarcane sweetness. Also here, once the palate gets used to the spicy-dark aromas, there's a fresh fruitiness. The alcohol is there but well integrated. The long finish leans more towards the spicy and herbal side. Great stuff.

My RumRatings review from 4 years ago: Thanks to the cask strength, the rum is pleasantly intense on the nose. Beautiful grassy agricole notes with a lot of cask influence. The rum has wood, vanilla, a very fresh fruit basket. But also spice. Wonderful. On the palate, the rum remains intense. You can tell the 15 years in the cask. Roasted fruits. Toasted oak. The rum is grassy and floral. The tannins are distinct. The rum becomes woodier with some leather and pepper. Many aromas linger long in the mouth. The rum has everything a good agricole needs. The cask influence is very intense. There is a lot to discover. I probably only scratched the surface. If you like it long-aged, concentrated, and complex, this is the right one. It surprised me very positively. Would love more.

Bally cask strength 2006 57.5° Bottle opened for a few weeks. Nose: oak barrel, morello cherries, solvent, light cocoa, tobacco, leather, licorice. Palate: intense morello cherries, caramel, oak barrel, dark chocolate, licorice, light pepper. Finish: red fruits, dark caramel, tobacco, leather, cocoa, cherry. Probably the most intense Martinique rum I’ve tasted (I haven’t had the chance to try the 98 or 99 😭). Masterpiece!

Bally at the sweet spot. In the blind tasting, it beat 15 Ballys, including 1998 and 1999 BDF. Great fruitiness and nuttiness, with just the right amount of wood and an opulent sweetness. Fantastic piece!
