Sixteen years on cane juice at 65% gives you burnt sugar, roasted oak, black tea and yellow fruit like apricot and pear. Nearly everyone raves about the nose; on the palate the alcohol runs a touch hot and it turns bitter-dark. One taster even called it "Agricole der nach Nutellabrot" — nutty, chocolatey, unusual.

Great Agricole! Beautiful spice, lots of wood influence and lovely peach, pear, cognac & black tea notes, as well as dark cocoa and burnt hay. Alcohol is a bit too present overall and could be better integrated after 15y, yet this is a very exciting & complex drop and extremely fun!

👃 Slightly grasses There’s pungent peppery in there Grape, almost stewed or rotten. Whatever it is, it brings roundness A pinch of baking spice 👄 Smooth like can juice Menthol, more on that latter Some baking chocolate Stewed grapes Some peat Citrus, bright and bitter The brightness, and peat linger. I have to admit when I first bought this I did not like this at all. I was super bummed on the purchase and found the menthol to be way too much almost like a Band-Aid or mothball flavor. But since I’ve had it for about a year and tasting it for the first time in eight months, I like it!!!!! Maybe it’s mellowed out or maybe it’s just me but now the purchase is justified!

#4010 Another expensive release and this one is not as well balanced as the Agricole release. The wood and ABV could have been integrated better though its not completely put of balance it still throws it off a bit. Fruity with a lot of wood and roasted notes. Looking at the price tage and having to chose I'd go with the Agricole version if I had to buy one.

Delicious Agricole hits the spot . Fruity and sweet on the nose. Beautiful floral notes that arrive ripe and balanced in the nose. On the palate, the alcohol is not quite perfectly integrated, but for me it's still just about right. It comes across a little bitter on the palate with less fruit than on the nose ... more chocolate and wood come to the fore here. Not ultra complex but good to drink.

Wow. I'm impressed. Also the price. Has everything a traditional Agricole should have. Once again in the retasting in the glass and really a great piece. I would buy it again immediately for the price of around €160.

Last blind tasting thanks to this wonderful community. A gourmand, praline-flavored rum, with a discreet touch of solvents. You can feel the Watts behind it, perhaps a little too much for me... On the palate, the agricultural side comes through, unlike the nose. In fact, it's surprising to see the discrepancy between the woodiness of the nose and the vegetal side on the palate. It's a very good Agricole, even if it's a little strong for me.

First time tasting isautier and it is a real masterpiece!Intense, you can feel the fruity part and you can feel the cask part which is not invasive and gives a nice complexity to the palate!The hints of citrus make you want to always have another sip more!I was very impressed!

On the nose a pleasant note of roasted orange peel, apricot and woody influences.The palate is clearly woody, slightly bitter and toasty!But also delicate fruit notes and grass spread! Wow, what a super-duper-amazing nose! I would easily give it 92 points. But on the palate, the poorly integrated alcohol ruins the outstanding aroma impression. It remains a very expressive, not very fruity, slightly bitter Agricole at a high but not the highest level. Who knows, maybe a slight reduction would have elevated the rum to the Agricole Olympus.

I like it well, nice Agricole nose with clove, caramel, dried fruit and a subtle freshness. On the palate a nice interplay between tart notes (toasty, black tea) and sweetness (burnt sugar). In the finish charred wood and tannins.

Classic agricole on the one hand, but also very different. Apple, spices, nuts and dried fruit on the nose. In the mouth a lot of wood influence, more yellow fruits like peach and apricot, coffee but also the agricole markers like grass and sugar cane. Charcoal and black tea and more yellow fruit on the finish. Great agricole with a special profile.

I haven’t tried many Agricole rums so far, but I like this one quite a bit. On the nose rather floral and fruity, on the palate it comes across a bit wild, rather woody and smoky. Alcohol could be better integrated, but despite 65% absolutely drinkable. Makes me want more Agricoles. Had it in the glass again, rating raised.

Yes, the alcohol could be a bit better integrated. But so far it remains for me the best Isautier bottling. Great Agricole note with apricot notes, wood and lots of spice. Not too sweet, but also not too dry.

Now the Agricole, after the molasses was really great...Nose: also nice intense and powerful. And yes, definitely Agricole. A little fresher and greener, more vinegar. Woody and spicy to boot. The barrel comes through nicely and again I smell the bourbon barrel clearly. The fruit is a bit fresher, green apple with dried apricot. Falls short of the molasses after all. 8.5Palate: oh yes, also very intense, complex and powerful. Spicy-malty. Nutmeg with licorice. Fatty-nutty, maybe a little tonka bean. Has something in the direction of brioche. Somehow also fruity, then rather prune. In the back, however, the Agricole comes through, with grassy sugar cane, plus some licorice. The bourbon barrel is clearly to taste.For an Agricole really damn good, because very complex, spicy and full. 8.9In the end, I like the molasses a bit more. It has even more volume. But both are great cinema for me.

Wow, a really strong Agricole. You can tell the years on it, lots of wood on the nose and palate. A certain spiciness of course is not missing. Also slightly roasted, vanilla and smoky. Class.

A very good rum that shows high harmony on nose and mouth, but the Agricole profile sometimes interferes. It bothers me a bit, but one could also see it as an increase in complexity. This includes fresh grass notes, leather and citrus fruits.

A full, dense Agricole on the nose. Nice fruitiness, citrus and then some tart apple, all perfectly dosed.In the mouth then warm and very, very furry. An interesting, nice animal note (dried hippo poop?😉 Haven't had it in this form before. Short, simple finish.Interesting, full, intense, balanced, alcohol perfectly integrated, Velier.The certainly wins at the second tasting to.

Like his brothers, a strong bottling! Overall maybe not as balanced as the rest and like many old Agricoles very bitter-dark. I prefer the somewhat less roasted bottlings, but this one also has its justification and surely its fans. Unfortunately also very expensive...

Tasted both combined, both agricole and molasses. For me, the agricole version has an edge while the molasses version remains perhaps a bit anonymous. Both are not too complex and good to drink.

Reminds me on the nose of a fruity Armagnac. On the palate a great fruitiness, apricot, mirabelle, peach, plus a nice spice. Really like it. The fruity finish is medium length. Very nice Isautier!

On the nose burnt sugar, spice, citrus, pears and a hint of roast and cask.The palate is very floral, but also fruity, woody and spicy, with some balsamic and peppery notes that add up to a woody long, full-bodied and finely toasted finish. Peculiar and loaded with personality, wonderful surprise and very integrated abv.(The score fluctuates depending on the tasting between 91-92)

I clearly prefer agricole over molasses. I find it more harmonious, more elegant, and more complex. Also, for me, the alcohol is a bit better integrated in this one. Very nice selection.

In reviewing this bottle, I decided to do a side by side blind tasting with the Traditionnel. It had been a long while since I tried either, so I felt it was now a good time to try out a blind A/B tasting so I wouldn't recognise which was which. Nose: Anise, rubber, pear, raisin, clove, lime Mouth: Pineapple, rubber, raspberry, pear, black pepper, anise, eucalyptus Finish: More delicate, flavour eases off gradually but with less intensity for a medium finish I'm honestly not surprised. I have owned the Traditionnel for a while longer than the Agricole, but I have always felt it had an edge over it. The nose of the Traditionnel is very in your face, while the Agricole is quite a bit more restrained by comparison. The palate of the Traditionnel is likewise strong while the Agricole is fairly gentle. The finish of the Traditionnel is also incredibly good and very long-lasting while the Agricole cuts off very sharply. Both are great bottles but the Traditionnel is definitely the better of the two.

Plenty of oak on the nose, but not overly oaked at all. Oak, vanilla, pear, hay, grass on the nose. Palate starts sweet, goes bone dry with some oak tannin, then the sweet returns in the finish, which is quite long. Pear, pepper, floral notes and oak. The 118 proof is well integrated, present but bot at all a bully. Really like this.

Direktvergleich zwischen dem Melasse und dem Agricole 16 Jahre. Der Melasse Nase in der deutlich mehr nach Fass die recht verschlossen wirkt. Eher Trockenobst und Schokolade und sehr viel Fass mit Gewürzen. Beim Agricole eine wunderbare Nase mit Vanille,Bratapfel und tropischen Früchten. Am Gaumen der Melasse sehr klassisch aber richtig gute Schoko und Karamellnoten mit schönen Gewürzen (eher winterlichem Gebäck). Der Agricole weiterhin tolle Fruchtigkeit richtig frisch mit leichten Holz. Im Abgang ist der Melasse deutlich länger da die Geschmäcker ziehen auch durch. Der Agricole entpuppt sich dann im Abgang mit ordentlich pflanzlichen Noten. Insgesamt für mich die Nase deutlich besser beim Agricole der aber am Gaumen bzw. Abgang immer mehr abbaut. Der Melasse am Gaumen am stärksten gefolgt vom Abgang.
