Pour this neat and give it fifteen minutes in the glass — that's when the tar, rubber and dark caramel really open up. It's a classic dirty 1996 Caroni: heavy oak, roasted notes, and ripe mango or baked banana hiding underneath. Several tasters rank it as their favorite of the 6th Release, calling it more balanced than its Sonny Black sibling. Not much fruit up front, though.

Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Angenehm, dass auch hier die lange tropische Lagerung nicht in zu heftige Bitternoten umschlägt. Die herben Noten sind zwar vorhanden, aber in schöner Balance mit den hier sehr ausgeprägt auftretenden tropischen Früchten (Mango, Kiwi), Teer-, Metall-, Karamell-, Holz- und Würznoten. Nach wiederholtem Tasting liegt er im Direktvergleich für mich klar vor dem Schwester-Release zu Ehren von Sonny Black, weil er m.E. Ein deutlich ausgewogeneres Gesamtbild bietet. Einer meiner subjektiven Favoriten aus 1996, weil er mit seiner tollen Tropenfruchtaromatik am Gaumen ohne erkennbare Fehlnoten ein absolutes Alleinstellungsmerkmal erreicht.

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing at the time of its greatest glory rum, which was added at a ratio of 1:10 to the naval blend. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000, the distillery ceased production and closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who took a liking to the rum because of its special taste. And the interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of "you need to try before you die" rums. I recommend it, Caroni is a truly unique rum.

Another great Caroni.The nose is intense with roasted wood, rubber and tar trailed by fruits and caramel with a dash of medicinal notes to it.The palate is also intense with smoky wood, rubber and tar with fruit, caramel and vanilla trailing. In the back i can find chocolate and leather.The finish is long and has roasted oak, rubber and dried fruit to it with a light medicinal note.This one also got really good after resting for more than 15 minutes.

When first opened, performed slightly better than "Sonny Black" and "Employees United", more balanced and with a little more complete finish, but when left in the glass for a while, these three performed almost equally. dirty enough(rubber、tar…), but the fruity and spices flavor is decreasing after oxidation, instead of getting clearer with standing. woody is somewhat overwhelming. taste is obviously not as good as the nosing. lacking some elements.

The color, again a dream.Dense, full, balanced Caroni nose. Varnish, charred oak, tar and rubber. Compared to the Sonny Liston, um Black, fruitier and a bit fresher.In the mouth now warmer, more balanced and much more tar and rubber.Long finish, in the pan warmed condom.😃The nose I like the Sonny clearly better, but this is in the mouth a madness.

Im Battle um die Krone befanden sich der allseits beliebte Caroni 21, der Last und der Dirty Harry. Nach meinem persönlichen Empfinden und Vorlieben, würde mein Ranking so ausfallen 1. Dirty Harry 2. Last 3. Caroni 21 Alles drei absolute Knaller keine Frage. An einem anderen Tag kann es natürlich auch wieder anders ausschauen. Aber es handelt sich hier wirklich nur um Nuancen.

Encore un autre monument. Même année, quasiment le même degré et profil sensiblement similaire. Je dirai que celui ci est moins sur les fruits et davantage sur les arômes sombres. Au final, j'ai été surpris par le caractère fruité de ces profils. Ce n'est pas comparable par exemple au Caroni Navy où c'est en premier lieu les notes d'atelier mécanique qu'on ressent.

02-03-2024 Tasted at Whiskymessen.dk Sixth rum was this amazing Caroni. We found it tucked away in a corner, but managed to get a sample. This was to be the best rum of the day. Caroni as I like it. Caroni is like women. Gets better with age. Very powerful nose. Wood and tar. Tast followed nicely the nose. Nice to have a sample on the shelf 🥃

A real Caroni cracker. Beautiful 1996 representative. Vanilla-caramel-wood ripeness in a harmonious foreground in front of tar, rubber and mango. Very very nice. Really great 1996 Caroni. Insanely delicious. I think I like it almost better than the Last.

Velmi pěkné Caroni, z porovnání zaměstnanců 6. řady pro mě o kousek na druhém místě. Určitě doporučuju nechat ve sklenici rozvinout, ať vyniknou pečené tóny, karamel a dřevo. V chuti se pak přidává asfalt a lékořice, celkově poměrně bohatý zážitek.

Almost zero fruit to be found here but neat smoke, tar and dark caramel. Nice thing but I'm still not a fan of smoky caronis for now.... At the very end, some baked banana actually comes through. Wicked!

Typical profile from 1996 Caroni vintage and quite close to others like United, Toolsie, Manmohan. However, probably a little less balanced and slightly dryer. Still a very good rum though. But no surprise here, that's a Caroni 😊

Franconian Rum Tasting Gang & Jakob, 2023-07-27 Teil 3: Gegenüber dem Caroni 21 eine deutliche Steigerung, auch wenn die 0,2 Punkte nicht danach aussehen. Am Gaumen weniger fruchtig, aber würziger, rostiger und noch komplexer.

Ein ausgezeichneter Caroni mit einer besonderen Fruchtigkeit. Die typischen Werkstattnoten sind ebenfalls vorhanden. Im Hintergrund schmecke ich noch etwas Karamell. Die Abfüllung gefällt mir wirklich sehr gut.

For me the best of the 6th release! Blind I would probably have guessed on a 2000, because but also a lot of dirty Caroni notes are present. But this complexity is simply the hammer!

Big. Fat boy. Concentrated and syrup. On taste there is interesting mix between orange, orange peal, tobacco leaves and some smoke. Very good rum, sip by sip becomes in symphony in your mouth.
