Overripe pineapple, esters and glue on the nose, then a rounder side of toffee, tobacco and dried fruit once it opens. Members keep calling this a top-tier Long Pond — 16 years of tropical aging gives it real body, and at 65% the alcohol sits surprisingly well. One taster caught brioche and honey; another loved the "long and complex" finish that turns woody before circling back to fruit.

8,9:On the nose, esters and glue, roasted wood notes like cocoa, brioche, spicy with vanilla and nutmeg, overripe tropical fruits like pineapple,cthen dried fruits, herbal molasses, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses is grassy, earthy with tobacco, sweet with honey, roasted nuts and toffee arise, some banana. 9,1:On the palate, the attack is tasty with overripe tropical fruits like passion fruit, mango, pineapple, some apricots and juicy orange, roasted wood notes like butterscotch, various confectionery with pastry, yeast, fruitcake, spicy with baking spices, we have medicinal notes like esters, funky, as the molasses is grassy with hay, earthy, mineral.On oxidation papaya and licorice arise.... 8,8:The finish is long, dry&tannic, slightly metallic, as the roasted wood notes pair fermented tropical, citrus fruits and earthy, slightly minty and fresh, grassy molasses... Velier really knows how to pick them. Another great release that is well balanced and great ABV integration. Fruity and funky with a nice mix of ester and wood. At release the price was really good and it has already gone up quite a bit since then. Delicious 😊

Last but not least, good finish, an excellent Long Pond. Dried fruits, ester and pineapple on the nose, on the palate overripe fruits (mango, apricot and pineapple). Also again ester and slightly woody.

A lively, vigorous nose of overripe pineapple, esters and glue. Vigorous but not aggressive, balanced and delicious. Keep it in the glass for a long time to allow its other aromas to express themselves. Vegetal and a kind of honey with a thousand flowers. The palate is lively, but almost immediately the round, savory side of this rum moderates this liveliness. The palate becomes more complex, with aromas of toffee, fresh tobacco, apricot and overripe pineapple. The finish is long, complex and elegant. The wood is more pronounced, and sweetness and overripe fruit dominate. The aromatic complexity lingers for a long time.

Being a fan of the Mark STCE with an ester level that is neither too high nor too low (in my opinion), this is one of the best long ponds I have tasted. A perfectly integrated alcohol and a great length. A must taste !

Very very awesome Jamaican. Lots of esters and pineapple, together with notes of wood, tobacco and dried fruits. This combination is really fun from start to finish; alcohol is really excellently integrated.

Very tasty tropical aged Long Pond. Wonderfully complex with lots of fruit and body... the tropical storage/maturation is simply untouchable. In a Mai Tai a real bomb. 4/5

Very beautiful Long Pond, esters, fruit, a really rich profile, just a bit disappointed by the finish which is a bit light compared to the rest, but it's really a very beautiful product!

Smell: mild esters, grilled pineapples, peaches in syrup, cream puff, caramel and vanilla cream Taste: estery, astringent, tart, peach-apricot, pineapple, orange, vanilla sugar Finish: long, slightly spicy, baked, a bit estery, less fruity than in taste and smell It's very round (65% ABV) yet has a big bite. Has a lot of esters but they don't kill, just enhance other flavors. Complex, smell and taste follow the same line but the finish strongly turns in a completely different direction - more woody, then finally returns towards fruits. My favorite rum distillery, and as for the bottle, I wasn't disappointed, it's at a very high level.

Long Pond fans are going to be thrilled! Another great selection from Velier on a 2005. Concentrated, overripe fruits. A notch below compared to the 2005 Habitation Velier. I really like it!!!
