#4568 21.01.2024 Having a go at a few more samples. Very nice rum especially when looking at the price upon release. A bit more specific notes. Nose Light wood, very fruity, light glue and marzipan, medium vegetal note. Palate Well balanced, light wood, fruity, spicy, light vegetal, nice herbal note. Finish Medium long, medium dry, fruity. There is a faint sugarcane note in the profile.

Not bad on the nose. Greedy behind a very present vegetal frame. On the palate however I am quite disappointed. There are spices to broth of kitchen which are really too present and not very pleasant. I didn't like this rum.

What can I say about this mix...it amazed me! You can feel the vegetal part of the vaval and there are the "dirty" scents characteristic of casimir joined by the sherry cask which gives it a nice fruity and buttery note! A really successful experiment!

A nice surprise! A clairin that takes a completely different turn with this sherry. A nice complexity, roundness, slightly spicy and roasted notes thanks to the sherry. We keep nevertheless this floral side of the clairin with licorice and relatively young fruits. A rather long finish without being interminable. A good value for money in my opinion!

Wow, I really like the sherry finish here. The freshness of the Clairins finds a wonderfully balanced counterpart in the heavy and sweet fruit notes from the sherry cask. Successful bottling!

Day 5 of the Samples de Luxe calendarA Jamaican nose but not really, tropical fruits, funky and varnish.In the mouth the alcohol is well present, not super well integrated. It lets the fruits slowly come up. The finish is not so long, there is still some wood. Empty glass, not a lot of hidden aromas.I would have bet on a much older rum. The ageing has made this clairin a bit of a boilerplate and it has clearly lost its wild vivacity.

Chamomile tea meets green apple and is accompanied by fruit bread. Herbal tea notes linger in the taste, served on an oak board. Plus more fruit bread and dried apricot. A honey note is added in the finish. Very interesting rum.

Much more sweetness for this one vs the old Sajous but it is also more indulgent. Very short length on the palate though. Pleasant to drink

Blind tasting, advent calendar #6 I find this rum very good, I like the idea of blending the two clairins, but I think the finish hides the originality of this blend too much otherwise it’s smooth, pleasant to drink

Bardo nicely sherry, wood and dried fruits with vanilla, a bit of vegetable-pepper and sour cherry. Vegetation is present in the background, alcohol hidden, marzipan with a hint of glue and wood in taste, oily. Vegetation at the beginning, later nuts, sherry and vanilla, sour fruits and dried fruits and wood with coconut, cane and licorice, a bit like sweet tobacco.

Bottle Haiti is one of the rum powers today in my eyes of the nerds. Clairin has already become a familiar and beloved style for many people. This bottle fits excellently with the oloroso cask. I won't say I expected more because after all it is something 4 years old but I have to note that its weakness is a complexity that is somewhat lacking. Fruits, a bit of lacquer, cocoa and chocolate, green. Very good release and the potential is sky-high.

Very gourmand nose on tropical fruits, marzipan, cooked wine and vanilla. The whole is enhanced by some notes of glue and a slight menthol after opening. On the palate we keep the same notes but spicier with the arrival of cardamom. You also feel the wood. Finish on spices, wood and after a few minutes licorice. Very good clairin well softened by the oloroso cask.

Taste: vegetal, spicy, vanilla, sherry and licorice. - - - - - - - Retasting 2026-01-15 Now experiencing the taste as sweeter, tropical fruits leaning towards overripe. I find it very good and am surprised by the differences I notice compared to the first test. Raising from 6.8 to 8.0.
