Banana bread sweetened with honey, fresh and earthy. Camphor and solvent. A great, complex nose which shines right after pouring. Crisp and funky in the mouth.Really like this Worthy Park. I will have to spend more time with this distillery.

An official Worthy Park showing all its sensuality. The nose is very soft and supple, oscillating between exotic fruit, woody notes, almond, pastry notes (candied fruit, burnt sugar) and a hint of phenolics with glue and esters. Tobacco and minty freshness add a real plus to the nose. There's a slight lack of intensity, but the whole is very well balanced. On the palate, it's both bitter and sweet. The main flavors are exotic fruit, spices, wood and dark chocolate. Esters are almost non-existent, but this is offset by a floral freshness, aromatic herbs and tea notes that set this profile apart from the rest. Alcohol is well integrated. The moderately long finish is more spice-oriented, with a noticeable spiciness. There's also a touch of saltiness, leather, roasted notes, wood, coconut, some banana and freshness, with bitterness echoing. Less exuberant on the nose than its 2007 cousin, it nevertheless displays greater aromatic complexity on the palate. With great depth and control, this Worthy Park ticks all the boxes of a successful rum.

Tasted this at SDR23, so my review remains rather concise. Straight out of the glass classic WP ‘breakfast’ wafts. Buttered croissant with cappuccino and mint tea. A side of plantains and apricot with a big dollop of vanillated crème fraîche, orange zest graceously grated over the top. Lovely profile that I could nose for ages. On the palate breakfast hour continues, but it’s unfortunately dialed down a notch. Still plantains, apricots, black tea, milky cereal… However the mint gets lost, and the entirety turns a bit too thin. I must admit I have a weak spot for WP. And I’ll continue beating the drum that WP often gets treated stepmotherly just because it shares an island with more favoured distilleries.

18.12.2021 Participating in a nice tasting given to me as a present. Nice hotel in a very central location. Notes Medium to dark in colour. Nose Fresh, fruity, banana, overripe, light caramel, faint glue. Palate Light wood, faint smoke, fruity, banana, overripe, faint pineapple, faint salt, faint caramel. Finish Medium long, warm, light wood, fruity, faint chocolate, faint vegetal. Extra note. A dialed down version of the WPM.

Compared to the 2007, this has more varnish, bitter notes and menthol from the barrel. Unfortunately, this somewhat covers the fruit basket. For my taste, he was a little too long in the barrel.

Worthy Park promises a broad aromatic spectrum - which is also on offer here. Still pleasantly fruity and spicy on the nose, then with vanilla, banana, dark chocolate, some caramel, wood, dark spices (pepper, allspice) and dried fruit on the palate - and unfortunately a rather incisive alcohol note on the finish, which does not disappear even with some oxidation. A pity, because apart from that, this is a pleasantly complex and drinkable rum.

Beautiful nose, taste for me but a tad too bitter woody, sour and spicy. there can the 2007 mMn clearly more. Especially the sour finish I do not like unfortunately at all and reduces the rating....

I did a quasi blindtaste with three WP rums: Rum Runner 2006 54,5%. Hab. Velier 2007 59% WPL. OB Conquete 2005 53% WPL. I knew I liked the Velier so I wanted to test it against similar rums. This will be the first round, I’m interested in knowing which is the WP in my collection I like the most. C: Dark gold. N: American whiskey! Bourbon. This is not rum! Just kidding, or not? Strange nose for a rum. It feels like smelling Maker’s Mark. M: Kind of flat. This rum doesn’t taste Cask Strength or like a Singel cask. You get some spices and fruits and a lemon-gone-bad sourness that’s a bit unpleasant. F: Short with spices and white pepper. Water: Still bourbon, still sour and more floral. Better without! Buy: No
