Long Pond Plantation Bardstown Fusion Series Bourbon Cask (Romdeluxe) 1998
Here's the twist: this is a 22-year Long Pond, but the bourbon cask finish does most of the talking. Expect caramel, vanilla, flambéed banana and coconut, with the roasty, chocolate-nut side coming out on the finish. Several tasters loved the "gourmandise" of it, but just as many wished the classic Long Pond funk hadn't been buried under all that bourbon.

17.11.2023 Retasting this one and will stick to my initial score. ---------- Not too bad a release though I would have loved a higher ABV. The price matches what you get in my mind. Fruity with nice roasted and wood notes. I like the coconut and caramel in the profile. Nice curtains and the empty glass is nice with some chocolate and smoky notes.

I would say a solid long pond. Fruity, roasty, woody. The bourbon note is here well note from the beginning to the end. This could have a higher score, but it‘s diluted… so we‘ll miss here a lot of power. On the other side you‘ll get a nice everyday sipper for a roundabout 100€

Second time I'm tasting it, but this time with notes. It has the jamaican funk profile in the nose with some citrus to it. It has an ester-count of 178 gr/Hl AA I've read, and I'm getting notes of caramel and coffee

Mega nose, bourbon comes through awesome. Extremely harmonious after flambé banana with coconut chips. Really tasty also the alcohol content is perfectly chosen! In the finish then dark roasted nuts, dark chocolate and some banana bread! Top.

Super surprise that this LP 1998. The Bourbon strongly marks the rum, but it doesn't bother me personally, unlike other finishes. It brings a lot of greediness. I think it's an excellent old rum pleasure for a price that is really worth it.
Review by RumTaTa
Beautiful nose: bourbon and sweet rum pot!In the mouth then the same notes with strong fruitiness. Then join the barrel influences, which also dominate the finish. The rum I would have liked to try in barrel strength!
Review by Thunderbird
As already noted several times...a distinct bourbon note, but personally too dominant for me!Overall a balanced rum, but I miss the typical LP flavor!
Review by Christian Rudt
The strong bourbon note through the finish you have to like. It overlays the Jamaica, profile quite strongly and that is missing me then something. Otherwise quite pleasant to drink.
Review by Johannes
Nice round rum, in which the bourbon notes are clearly in the foreground. Thus, however, he clearly loses the typical Long Pond characteristic.
Review by tojo
Relaxed rum with a nice bourbon note.
