I got this in the mail from Germany yesterday and I just couldn't wait until the weekend tasting it. Being on a week off from work and having a lot of time to arrange my rum collecrion I can always find a good excuse to sip one :-) I'd say this is a new super rum from Long Pond. Despite the age it has a solid oak as a backbone with fruits and spices on top. The funk is there and it's well balanced and velvety on the palate with a very light mineral touch with some caramel. It's not a cheap rum but I think the price is well matched with the quality.

Super nose of insane gourmandise, marzipan with candied orange peel and chocolate. Just great! The palate is a pity, otherwise it would have been incredible. Rather short finish. In short, excellent rum on the gourmet side and great to try, but I think that in terms of quality and price, there's much more interesting stuff in this style (from plantation or NRJ vale royal, not to mention them 😁).

I have to say it's a great piece. Nice that this one is the end of the day, all the best to the top music teacher Mr. Wippermann. Oh God, what else can I write. I love rum :-) Too bad, tasting is over.

Second tasting: I reduce my rating by 4 points because the rum seems quite alcoholic despite the low alcohol content and because the gap in terms of aroma and intensity to the Velier bottlings is clear. The grilled overripe bananas jump out of the glass at me! There are also other tropical fruits and vanilla. Ripe banana and vanilla again in the mouth, very mild and oily. A peppery and salty note and barrel are added on the finish. Overall very harmonious and intense, top!

Creamy and round with notes of coconut, banana and peach. Some leather and slightly toasty to smoky on the nose and finish. There is a dry nutty note on the finish. Although the ester level is low (ITP) and the rum is thus expected mild, yet does not lack the power to satisfy the palate.

A very fine spirit as a digestif, with a well-executed dilution, but at this price I'd at least have liked an Overproof. For half the price, I'd still turn to Velier bottlings.

Quite good! Pleasant , good dilution. You can taste the tropical storage. Reminds me of the Bristol 86 Long Pond.

A beautifully balanced Jamaican from the house of Long Pond. Tropical fruits and spicy notes balance each other out. Subliminally beautiful estery notes, the finish is rather spicy and dry. Very harmonious on the nose and palate. For my taste, the ABV could have been a little higher, but all in all a great rum.

Normal. Overripe tropical fruit in an interesting aroma, the taste is not so interesting. There are better pieces for the money.
Review by Lukas Jäger
Very inviting nose, which already makes curious, if he rests even a little distant in the glass. Seems in my eyes first older than 15 years, because he seems quite full and complex despite the rather low ABV. Unfortunately, he can confirm this positive impression on the palate only limited, here he lacks some depth, especially out the back, although he also lingers quite long in the mouth. Still, far from what I like about Long Pond, as toasty flavors combined with something vegetal dominate. As so often: Different and exciting, but just for the price then again uninteresting, for less thaler there would also be a few more points.

nice nose: dried fruit (apricot), banana, vanilla, some leather. Spontaneously I wonder if sugar couleur is not involved here, which was already added during barrel aging (that would at least explain the very dark color for the 15 years aging). On the palate, a somewhat strange interplay of wateriness and nice spice (nutmeg, allspice), and dark chocolate. The finish is rather unspectacular. Undoubtedly good to drink, but for me also not really the premium quality that the price suggests.

A pleasant soft rum, but a bit too thin for me and a poor PLV
Review by Djehey
Very banana-like, with a slightly estery nose. Pleasantly unctuous on the palate...A must-try aeration! The bottle just opened is really less good.
Review by Filip Šikula
This is perhaps the first long pond to offer such intense notes of chocolate. Of course, there's plenty of dried fruit, bananas and pineapple, which is how we usually know it. It's teochu bitter, a little less integrated alcohol, but still a nice long pond

Mild Jamaika in der Nase, Zunge kräftig, würzig, lecker, weniger Ester (gefühlt), für den Preis eigentlich zu teuer
