Sipped neat, and only neat — this is a 32-year-old Port Mourant at a monstrous 72.1% that somehow drinks nowhere near its proof. Leather, dark plum, raisin and old oak pour out of the glass, with roasted, oily depth and a finish that runs for minutes. Members keep marveling that a rum this strong stays this round and integrated. A collector's Guyanese heavyweight, not a casual pour.

14.03.2003 Had a week in Salzburg which I think is a wonderful historical city. We went here to have dinner and we were allowed to bring our own bottles for tasting at a small fee. Notes. Very dark in colour. Nose: Intense, wood, smoke, raisin, leather, plum. Palate: Intense, wood, roasted, oily, complex, dried fruit, leather. Finish: Warm, wood, light smoke, dried fruit, chocolate. Extra note. Needs to rest for at meats 30 mins before giving it a go. 4.75 of 5 stars which should amount to 9.5 in today's score.

Amazing nose. Taste - Strong GUYANA with no acethylen/chemical tail. Extremly round, similar to 3yo 48% rum. Leather, wood, little bit caramel, brown dried fruit - plumps, fiqs, dates. What is missing to 100%? The taste could be even more intense..

Excellent rum, although the weakest from the 1964 batch. The nose needs some time to fully develop, but then offers an exciting complexity with a great tobacco note. On the palate, also absolute world class – cask notes, leather, dried plum, caramel… rum heaven.

And continuation with wonderful samples. The nose could be sniffed all night. Spices, leather, wood. The taste is brutal, but what I would highlight is the otherworldly integration of alcohol. This has 70+? Really? Beautiful. The finish lasts for many minutes.
