Here's the surprise: at 75.5% this barely burns. Members keep noting the alcohol is buried under waves of glue, nail polish and solvent, then overripe banana and pineapple, honey and a pastry, brioche-like sweetness. It's a South African cane-juice esterbomb from Mhoba, wild but tidy. Add a few drops of water and it opens further. Not a place to start with rum.

What an esterbomb from Mhoba! A lot of spice, solvents, nail polish (like UHU glue) in the nose(Very SPECIAL)! This is definitely not a beginner rum, also be patient… it has 75%! I‘ll give it some time and also add some drops of water…. maybe it opens up a bit more. Time will give this rum a lot 😎 i don‘t recommend it for cuba libre Nose: Solvents 🤪, fruity esters, funky, fresh, sugarcane, overripe fruits like banana, pineapple Mouth: Spicy, Solvents, astrigend, bitter, strong, funky, vegetal, olive, fruity Finish: short to medium long, dry astringend, bitter, caramel, vanilla, fresh, grass, herbal, young wood Update: I have this bottle now open for some months and it’s getting better and better drinkable/accessible.

Clearly noticeable alcohol on the nose, which makes the profile appear wild and impetuous. Despite its strength, the rum is surprisingly round on the palate, with strong, warm aromas and a solid foundation. Not an easy introduction, but exciting for experienced connoisseurs who appreciate intense rums.

A very powerful and excellent rum, with a strong solvent aroma on the nose. On the palate, it gives way to esters, vanilla and chocolate. The alcohol is very well integrated, with the 75% appearing to be only 55%. A very good rum and very good value for money.

Waaa... The more I drink Mhoba, the more I like this distillery and the frame that comes out of it... It is nicely fruity (Mango / Pineapple / Coconut / Red fruits) with a little woody that blends perfectly giving us some sweet spices as well as a nice sweetness (Pastry / Butter / Brioche / Cream). This greediness contrasts wonderfully with the big empyreumatic side of the distillery (Diesel / Rubber / Smoke / Copper / Tar ...). The vegetal of the white is also perfectly integrated in this juice by bringing us a certain freshness (Green / Hay / Lemon).in short it goes in all directions, it is super well done, I love it!

Mhhh… Mhoba. The little brother, Strand 101, was my first Mhoba. That one convinced me right away. So here too a blend from the Glass-Cask and a High Ester, only at cask strength. The color comes from the Glass-Cask. Nose: very intense and fermented, crazy esters with glue and solvents. Full, spicy aroma with vanilla and honey as well as overripe banana and papaya. Crème brûlée. And although the >75% cut a bit, they are well integrated and hurt me a little. 8.6 Palate: even crazier esters and again with glue and solvents, but also soft and alcohol-warm. The esters are nicely wrapped in honey and ripe banana with fermented pineapple. Also has a nice spicy character, although I can't name clear spices. In the finish besides esters, honey and banana also some sweet licorice. Alcohol is absolutely noticeable but also incredibly well integrated. I really like it, better than either the Glass-Cask or the High Ester alone. 8.8

8,3:On the nose, the first impression we get is irresistibly devastating burst. The solvent, even Petrol, gunpowder-boosted cane juice is very powerful, roasted with a honey, buttery, sweet spices and resin.Aeration removes the solvent notes.This reveals a thicker rum, with fermented, overripe tropical fruits like banana, pineapple with chocolate, perfumed like a brioche. It becomes fresh and dry, vegetal and with some herbal notes. 8,6:On the palate, still powerful, it has no alcohol burn. It is fruity with passion fruit, mango and spicy with sweet spices. Candied cane juice tastes like liquid honey, oily, first with tasty pastry notes, cream toffee, caramelized nuts, of some solvent and being a bit acidic with citrus, very ripe exotic fruit, later vegetal notes with olive. 8,6:The finish is very pleasant, thick, with lots of pastry such as yeast, nuts and kernels, vanilla, coconut, young toasted wood, in the end some metallic note shows up in the theater... And to finish the day, I saved a Mhoba. Great stuff, lots of esters, but also fermented tropical fruits in the form of banana and pineapple. Otherwise very funky, solvents and glue can also be detected.

The mhoba's distinctive character is immediately recognizable. The famous sugar cane on a bed of tar and gasoline, always a pleasure. But unlike white mhoba, this strand 151 also has a gourmand quality that gives it a truly interesting aromatic palette. More pastry-like than its white counterpart, it's just as much an aromatic bomb, always a real slap in the face. What power.

This South African rum is a wonderful surprise. This hybrid is surprisingly aromatic. The nose reveals very fresh vegetal notes of mushroom and undergrowth, esters, solvent and typical tropical fruits (notably pineapple and banana). The palate is even more radiant, with the 75.5% extremely well integrated. The rum flows between vegetal, floral, fruity, fermented notes and a touch of rubber. The finish leaves an impression of freshness and fruity sweetness, with a hint of vanilla. Complex, balanced and intense, it's a real knockout.

Tried on the Rum Cruise to the 13th GRF in Berlin: Crazy stuff! So much power and esters that I might not have recognized it as Mhoba blind. For me already too much, I can't do anything with such a rum at home. But nice that I could try it!

Hui... the 75.5% you notice and feel very clearly and they dominate very strongly...but still a good strong rum! I'll test it soon times in a Mai-Tai...could be very interestingTest is done....and...very tasty..alcohol hardly noticeable...but an intense sweet / sour note of fresh fruit ! Very tasty ! Pure vacation feeling

Mhoba is really something else. This lacquered rum absolutely won me over. Compared to other Mhobas, this one brings a surprisingly fitting cask note / woodiness. Really really good stuff!

This is a big bold rum. Be brave, it is absolutely worth it. The nose hints at what is to come, typical Mhoba notes of roasted pineapple and cream, alongside fresh cane sugar, rather tame given the ABV but oh so inviting. On the mouth it is a powerhouse as you would expect, esters, glue, tropical fruits, solvents and gingerbread, a real hit, intense but well put together. The finish is medium short but again powerful, grass, pineapple and young barrel influence. It’s a bruiser but all personality and a fun sipper. Not for every occasion but if you are in the mood this is a cracking rum

A smack in the face - but a pleasant one. You can really feel the high ester count as over ripe fruit bursts out of the class accompanied by a note of gas. It is an acquired taste, but an interesting one and a rum that is truly unique.

Top! Really like it, I'm a bit of a Mhoba fan. Supposed to be 75.5%?! Super drinkable, tastes like much less. Surely good in cocktails too. Just cool what Mhoba delivers. Curious about the future, hope it won't be too expensive.

Nose always typical Jamaican but pleasant, gourmand on vanilla and finishing on wood! Powerful and numbing palate everywhere! My mouth was paralyzed but the descent is exceptionally long on leather, banana. The second palate is superb after the pain peak, vanilla remains, caramel and finishes on wood!
