It continues straight away with the 2nd Easter sample. I certainly wouldn't have thought of the LP here. Much heavier on the nose and palate after the HLCF. Sherry impact is noticeable. Also red wine and spices. Accompanied by some polish and a slight mustiness. Interesting, but I wouldn't buy a bottle.

7,9:On the nose, medicinal with esters and glue, varnish, polish, funky, pungent, rotten, fermented overripe tropical fruits, vegetal molasses with briny olive, fresh, grassy, roasted wood notes pastry, chocolate, spicy with allspice, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, it becomes slightly metallic, fruits are stewed with banana, sour cherry, dried and grapes, caramel, leather join, smokiness, meaty touch. 7,7:On the palate, the attack is slightly alcoholic, funky with medicinal notes like esters, pungent like fruit schnapps, , rotten, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, berries, grapes, dairy notes like cream, creamy, molasses is vegetal with briny olive, herbaceous, fresh with tea, grassy, candied, the wood is roasted with cream toffee, chocolate, spicy with allspice, dry, smoky. 8:The finish is quite short, rather balanced, dry and tannic, medicinal, sulphurous with roasted oak notes, nutty, spicy with allspice, smoky, meaty, fruity with dried, tropical, citrus and green fruits, grapes, fermented, dairy notes, sherry barrel impact is obvious, molasses is vegetal with briny olive, herbaceous, grassy, floral, sweet with honey.

Thinking about the price tag you actually get a lot for your money. The nose is fruity and has light funk to it trailed by grass, varnish and spices. The palate is lightly funky with fruits and brown sugar trailed by grass and spices. The finish is long and fruity with spices.

Great, funky Jamaica nose. Ester and pineapple on the palate, but also a rather dominant sweetness. You don't notice the young age at all.

Day 2 in the Happy Ester Calendar, so blind. Lots of esters, glue, and tropical fruits. The pineapple on the nose once again points to Jamaica. My first thought of Hampden quickly evaporates, as it has a certain acidity that I am more familiar with from Long Pond. Something still bothers me, though, preventing me from clearly identifying it. There is a fruitiness that is not typical of Jamaica. Something dark, berry-like, maybe even grape. After the resolution, it's clear: it comes from the sherry! For me, it's an amazingly good finish, as it's not too dominant and well integrated. I'm not usually a fan of finishes, but this one rounds off the rum nicely. There's also a certain vegetal quality, something vegetable-like, hard to pin down. It lingers in the mouth forever, which I like. A surprising bottling, but I like it very much!

C: faint yellow N: rubber, glue, some tropical fruits (possibly coconut, mango), herbal notes in the background P: I get brine and olives upfront, then again glue and rubber, along I’m with grassy and hearty flavors. It is quite warm but little to no astringent. F: long, burnt rubber and grass. Brine Guess: not an ordinary Jamaican, I would say. The flavor profile reminds me of some aged Clairin (dunno if it can be considered as “estery” by the book). ABV on the 56-57%, age maybe 4-6 years.. My first option would be some sort of Fiji..as backup, I would shoot for Clairin Sajous Vieux 4yo! I doesn’t meet my taste, as I believe that the finish has somehow changed the true long pond bouquet

#2 RumXHighE(a)ster weeks: Blind tasting: Fiji 🤔 max. 5 years of aging approx. 50% 80-12 gr/hlpa This is a interesting one. I‘m indecisive. Result: I got wrong 🙈 The sherry cask here is hidden and come through in the finish after 1-2 min. only. Very cool long pond, but you’ll find a lot of better LP‘s out on the market. PN: This one needs time to fully open (approx. 1 hour)

On the nose a sour fruity note, also accompanied by buttery sour yeast! A subtle funk also comes in! The palate is initially creamy sweet, then shifts to spicy with roasted pecan nuts! The fruit is lost here! Herbs come in too! This continues into the medium-long finish! A tasty young LP.

I like the finish where sherry notes and tropical fruits harmonize. In taste, sweet pineapple gets a bit lost in somewhat simple candied tropical fruits and the nose already shows a not quite ideal integration of the alcohol.

This one is really funky, very, very much ester here. Otherwise also good Jamaican high ester markers, lots of glue, lots of polish, but also some lacquer and fermented tropical fruits like pineapple.

Blind tasted for day 2 of the E(a)sterweeks 2022: Draw between Long Pond, Hampden and Fiji. The impression on the palate tipped the scales for Fiji. Very fruity rum, surprisingly round and mild for only one year of aging. Great bottling in terms of intensity but not comparable with the Velier bottlings.

Blind tasted: Nose: Ester of course and a plump fruit basket. I have some pineapple and papaya, quite young on the nose, promising Palate: strong and spicy, a bit peppery. Fruit bread. Also slight sweetness present, maybe honey. I also perceive glue. Finish: relatively dry and enduring. Delicious Would not have suspected a PX finish here and was more on the Fiji wood track. But good that there are also PX finishes where something of the rum remains in the end 😉 With time in the glass, the cask comes through a bit more

The cask influence is so strong that I would have guessed a funky Clairin rather than Long Pond. Besides tropical fruits, esters, glue, wood, and spices, there's a lot of "freshness" with vegetal aromas to taste.

Interesting evolution in this one. The finish creates a more complex and „wired“ profile compared to some other sherry experiments, which end up being very sherry forwards.

Rum X Easter 18.4.22: Special rum, but somehow quite pleasing. Alcohol almost unnoticeable, I guess 50-55%. Concentrated aromas, therefore tropically aged, but short. Up to 5 years. Overall I have the feeling that there must be French influence in it. When researching in the Rum X app I came across the Clairin Ansyen Sajous aged in Hampden cask. I had guessed that one.

Blind tasting, #Easterweeks Day 2: Delicious esters. Somehow reminds me of a Fiji rum. After a long time, the sherry influence comes through. On the nose nicely fruity, on the palate sweet. Surprisingly smooth for 1 year of aging.

Delicious rum, as expected the combination of Jamaica funk with the heavy sweetness from the ex-sherry cask works well at Long Pond and brings a balanced rum to the glass. For the young Jamaicans, a quite coherent approach.
