It‘s a very good complex and delicious rum with a nice lovely fruity/roasted/woody Profile. Only minus is that tje Alcohol could be intergrated better. If you add some drops of water, it will help a lot. For me one of the best rums of 2021 Nose: fruity, banana, blackberry, overripe fruits, mandarin, apricot, alcoholic, varnish, ginger, spicy, tobacco Mouth: Full bodied, strong, dry, elegant, intense, oak, vanilla, roasted, spicy, dried fruits, dried currants, banana, green apple Finish: medium long, astrigend, dry, delicious, young wood, oak, tannins, burnt sugar #bottlekill

Really sharp and long alcohol burn, it has been recommended to have it breathing for an hour, to lessen the burn and bring the fruit. Unfortunately the sample was to small... For now the sharp burn is too much and reduces the overall score.

Australian Rums Tasting, Rum Club Switzerland et Australia Artur’s Advent calendar day 22. Un nez tout en retenue et en équilibre avec du bois luxueux, des fruits jaunes et surtout de la pomme, un côté floral délicat. L’entrée de bouche est soyeuse, florale (rose), du tabac mais surtout de la pomme surie. On se sent ici dans une cave où vieillissent des pommes. La finale est longue, équilibrée. La vanille ressort en finale. Un léger curry dans le verre vide. Un rhum splendide, tout en finesse et en équilibre. Un léger piquant, tout à la fin me dérange un peu.

Liegt im Direktvergleich mit dem TRC deutlich vorne - intensiv mit knackiger Würzschärfe, würzige Schärfe, angenehme Restsüsse, ausgewogene Fruchtnoten - insgesamt schlichtweg runder. Zwar kein Komplexitätswunder, aber ein guter, durchaus anspruchsvoller und trotzdem zugänglicher Rum. Toller Australier!

Very different from the Velier 2006. Much more dark aromas of cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, leather, tobacco, blackberries and banana. But also the typical notes of pear and slight floral notes are present. Overall, it's a bit too smoky and woody for me. Alcohol could also be better integrated here but for the price it's more than fair. Definitely one of the best full proof Australians on the market! Personally, I prefer the even fruitier & younger bottlings. This one can be bought without hesitation whether you have prior experience with Australia or not 🦘🪃

After tasting the barrel sample (then still at 74%) at the 10th GRF in Berlin, I knew that I needed this rum. Surprisingly quickly, it went on sale just four weeks later. The nose is incredibly exciting, with a duel between chocolate and tropical and dark red fruits. Very complex and harmonious. Powerful on the palate, not quite as inviting as the nose, as the alcohol is still very present. Perhaps it needs a little more time in the glass. Nevertheless, very tasty, great variety and very good PLV!

I had first as a barrel sample on the 10th GRF, then still thought he had 75%. He had pleased me already there!Nose: half an hour in the glass, then he is ready. Full-bodied, intense and round. A whole fruit basket: cherry, blackberry, juicy pear, mealy banana, fresh tangerine. A slightly vinegary red wine tone is there. Plus a heavy sweetness of maple syrup and burnt sugar. Lots of spicy notes behind that too: damp pipe tobacco with vanilla, light mocha with cocoa powder and some milk chocolate. Palate: stronger and fuller attack, much less fruity but spicy. A bit salty-bitter and dry, aromatic cherry wood. Then black currant and pear skin after all. A bit smoky and bacony and out the back again the pear.So far the best Australian for me.

Incredibly balanced and consistently great buried Nlten with a touch of vanilla. Really really good to the 85 points is missing me personally but something. But without a doubt the best Australian I had.

For me already a classic. And, if I see it right, clearly by most here with the best rated Australian (at all and of the year 2007 anyway). And rightly so! It is simply incredibly balanced, complex and deep. I find the alcohol rather beneficial than disturbing, it rounds off the powerful, earthy overall impression. Happy the one who can still have that in the glass! 😉

8,3:On the nose, the first impression we get is very fruity with diverse fruits like apricot, banana, grape, citrus and quite obvious varnish.The wood is spicy and roasted with baking spices, caramel, burnt sugar and nuts. On aeration, the molasses is a bit vegetal, some notes as tobacco, leather, coffee become stronger. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is very fruity and woody with pineapple, dried fruits, berries, green apple and pear, later yellow fruits.The wood is very spicy with baking spices, vanilla, roasted with chocolate, caramel and maple. After nice rest, the molasses is darker with a licorice/herbs, tobacco and flowery with a rose...and smoke arises. Very pleasant now. 8,4:The finish is long with charred wood notes, dry and spicy, a bit tannic, still fruity, in the end some curry joins the play...

A colorful Beenleigh with energy to spare. The nose is very intense, very fruity (pear, grape, apricot, citrus, tropical fruits) with very soft herbal notes on tea. The spices (cinnamon, ginger, chili, vanilla), caramel and burnt sugar offer a lot of roundness, while tobacco, leather, roasted wood and varnish give character. A rum with a strong profile. On the palate, we find a very beautiful rum that is harmonious, fruity (passion fruit, berries), spicy (cinnamon, chili, pepper) and smoky. The profile is a bit less fresh than the nose but retains the indulgence and mastery of aromas (notably varnish, tobacco, wood and spices). The alcohol is palpable with warmth but remains well integrated in this complete and tasty profile. The finish is long, tannic and astringent, but keeps a very aromatic fruity and spicy side (pear, apple, grape, apricot). Leather, coffee, tobacco and wood fuel the punchy side, while tea softens the finish and burnt sugar rounds off the edges, forming a complete, intense but opulent rum. An excellent bottling of an Australian rum, a true flag bearer of its terroir.

Today 5 Australians in the glass. 1. Rum Club 14 yr: light fruity, very present on the palate with a medium-long finish. 83 points. 2. Rom Deluxe no. 40 15yr: Quite different from the first Rum Club. Much drier. Also very fruity, though the fruits here are more dark berry. The finish is unfortunately a bit metallic. 85 points. 3. Rum Club no. 40 16 yr: Similar to the first Rum Club, only with more wood and much drier. Though not as dry as the Rom Deluxe. I find the alcohol not well integrated here. 80 points. 4. RA 2007 15 yr: Similar in profile to the first Rum Club due to its dominant light fruits. But with this rum much more intense and complex. An absolute fireworks on the palate! Apricot, mirabelle and peach in such an intense form is impressive. If the finish were a bit longer, this would be a magnificent rum. But even so very good! 88 points. 5. Ferroni 2013: Absolutely not comparable to the others. Totally barrel-driven. Very intense on the palate with dark fruits, wet wood and leather. If you like rums with very strong barrel influence, you have found a perfect companion for the evening by the fire. I like it too. 81 points. The distinctive dryness of the Rom Deluxe I find great. A piece of desert in the mouth =D Also, it stands out a bit from the others due to its dark fruits. The two RC and the RA are best comparable, with the RA being by far the best for me.

A sample I've had for a long time. We're tasting it tonight with friends. Honestly, rums over 60% are getting harder and harder for me. They close off the aromas a bit and burn my too delicate nose 😉 So with a bit of water. Otherwise, it's a beautiful specimen of what's done in Australia.

A wonderful fruity nose... On the palate then more of a spicy side that gives way to fruit again on the finish! If the alcohol were better integrated on the palate, it could be rated much higher! Still very tasty. Today as a bonus in the RX calendar: My first tasting was fully confirmed.

This one did sit in the glass 30-60 minutes, while i compared my notes others tasting notes that were different than mine. On the nose: Very earthy, like tobacco, pencil shavings and some roots. Mild vinegar note. Sugarcane notes and vanilla come in after a while. Alcoholic. Taste: Oily mouthfeel at first. Strong and alcoholic. Tobacco, spices. Then you get woody notes and light vanilla. Finish: Lots of woody notes. Roasted Spices. Leather. Light roasted coffee. Strange how my notes are different than rest of the reviews. If we are talking about the same rum, this one was too alcoholic and perhaps top earthy for my liking.

Like an Agricole XO on the nose with lots of fruit, leather, tobacco, chocolate, and sugar. The sharpness in the mouth hits hard, with only bitter notes, spices, chocolate, and some fruit. The finish then has a little twist, where sweet and bitter berries linger, accompanied by wood, spice, and chocolate. To soften the mouthfeel, some water should be added. Round rum!

3rd tasting, now the sample is empty: Again a bit better than last time. I still find it insanely alcoholic and sharp-edged. But it also has great spicy and berry aromas, mainly on the palate. In the finish sweet like caramel and at the same time roasted-spicy and again alcoholic. From 79 up to 81. But it probably won't become my favorite rum.

Compared to the RA, this rum shows a slightly more open nose. Otherwise, they are hardly distinguishable. I find the RC a bit "lighter" in taste (lighter fruits) with well-integrated alcohol and a long finish. A top rum!

Compared to the 2007 Rum Cask, both 14 years old, but the RumClub has more ABV. First impression on the nose: I wouldn't have thought the differences would be so clear. The Rum Cask has a beautiful, fruity-sweet mandarin nose. The RumClub takes much longer before the ABV releases the notes, but then a very nice fruit basket, really hard to describe everything (pear, apple, cherry). Vanilla and cinnamon in the background. On the palate, the RumClub has a wonderfully sweet, chocolatey note, the Rum Cask is rather roasted. Seen this way, the RumClub is the winner.

This is a must try for most. This is at the same level as much older rums so you get a band for your buck. From opening very fruity and chocolaty with tobacco which continues slightly different on the palate where it is intense and complex. My advice, buy, buy, buy.

RumXmas BONUS: A bit late to the party because I fell asleep on the couch (wayyy too much Christmas food) 😃 Wouldn’t know if I would have guessed Australia. Secret distillery, but Beenleigh could be plausible. I have The Duchess Australia open and it does has some common ground with this: overpowering alcohol at first and needs a lot of time to open up, but once the paint thinner fades away it gets more accessible and fruitier. The longer it stands, the better it gets. It could also be a logical explanation for the many Guyana guesses: their “vat still” is comparable to the Port Mourant still and that the original distillers learned the craft in Guyana in the 1900’s.

To close the RX Advent calendar, we're heading back to Australia with the Beenleigh. Aromas of plum, grape, cherry, vanilla, and wood/sawdust. On the palate, even a bit fruitier with sweet notes. Slight vinegar hint. If you give the rum plenty of time, it becomes very complex.

Compared directly with the Brave New Spirits, this one is noticeably less fruity on the nose. Also the alcohol unfortunately stands out a bit. On the palate quite intense, but again the alcohol is quite dominant. Overall still a solid Australian.

Artur's Australian Advent calendar: very strong rum with lots of sugarcane, dried fruits, wood and spices. On the nose also citrus fruits, on the palate hints of chocolate and nuts. Alcohol strong but well integrated.

I have thought about this rum for a year. Tasted it multiple times. It is well-rounded but unfortunately there is a catch. Personally, the alcohol punch is too strong for me. And I have had several cask strength rums in the glass that were all drinkable. So with this experience, I cannot say the alcohol is well integrated in this bottling. Conclusion: good rum but I am not up to it. A pity actually. Because without this flaw, it would have been rated "Very Good".

If the alcohol were a little better integrated, it would be a case for >90. But even so, here rum from Australia presents itself from the best side. With enough time, the taste impressions explode. From berries to orange notes, a distinct tobacco note to roasted and baked aromas, we have quite a bit on offer here. In the finish, you can even discover some pear. Now I already need a dessert again. I'll definitely try this one again 😋

Very good Australian that already promises full potential on the nose. It is spicier and more powerful than other representatives from Down Under, with a hint of Barbados - vanilla, wood, and fruits. On the tongue, it leans a bit towards burnt sugar, but for Demerara flair it is too soft and sweet or not bitter enough. But it doesn't have to be - it comes from Australia! 😄 At the back, tobacco, yellow fruit, and vanilla - a nice bottling that feels a bit edgy due to the alcohol, which isn't too softly integrated, but that also makes it tasty and less ordinary.

Nose: God, it’s a weird one..I initially sense just, pure, untamed alcohol. Swirling it around in the glass, release some light raisins notes. There might be some vanilla and wood to it, although it is really hard for me to pass through that alcohol barrier. Some water helps releasing a little bit of fruity notes (grapes). Palate: I hardly get some burnt caramel, wood, maybe some roasted almonds. Again, thanks to the water I’m able to pick some raisins and red grapes. There’s a spicy, peppery note. My humble opinion: the alcohol is too strong and not well integrated.

Dunderhuts Advent Calendar Australia: The nose I find inviting, fruit, vanilla and honey? But also alcoholic notes like solvent/varnish. On the mouth then strong with pleasant sweetness and long finish. I find it very good!

Tested against RX388. This one is a lot more powerful. I have now left it for just as long as its competitor. But I have to admit that it has not developed as well. The finish is longer, but after the time I've given them both, I don't think the alcohol is quite as well integrated here. Each has its charm, but the bottom line is that they are both on a par.

RumX Advent calendar 25.12.21: Blind didn’t come close. Would have guessed a Ten Cane. Overall the outstanding alcohol spoils the experience too much for me. It’s like watching a great movie in the cinema but the row behind you keeps talking. The movie is good but it’s not really enjoyable.

Very tasty Beenleigh. Unlike the nose, the alcohol is not noticeable in the taste and finish. With water, it becomes even fruitier. The typical peach note is also present.

Tiefes, klares, strahlendes Gold. Macht was her. Der Naseneindruck mit Frische, leicht floralen Akzenten, gelbe Früchte (Mirabellen, Aprikosen), Blütenhonigaromen, aber auch etwas alkoholisch. Am Gaumen dann deutlich würzigere und holzigere Noten. Insgesamt sehr aromatisch mit etwas Karamell, was eine angenehme leichte Süsse dazu gibt. Und nach einer Stunde im Glas haben sich auch die ABV-Geister beruhigt. Langer würziger Abgang. Nach dieser Stunde im Glas gefällt er mir richtig gut. Vorher war mir der Alkohol zu präsent. Wer nicht solange warten will sollte wohl mal ein paar Tropfen Wasser ausprobieren

Color: Gold shining amber. Smell: Sweet and fruity aromatic. Apricot and mango with caramel pudding. Some herbal notes are also there. Due to the high alcohol content, it's difficult to smell much. Taste: Alcoholic, sweet and creamy with caramel. When swallowing, alcoholic-spicy. Round - also some fruit is still there. Finish: Long. Spicy, woody, alcoholic and sharp. Aromas of almond and caramel. Mainly woody in the aftertaste. Clearly better than the other Australian rums I have tried so far. 84 points.

Crisp alcoholic and lacquer on the nose. At least in the first 10 minutes in the glass. After that, much more opens up and especially exciting. Lots of roasted and wood aromas, dark fruits like blackberry. Smoke and pear brandy are less distinct but clearly present. Vanilla, banana, cherry hinted at. Wine, tobacco, caramel and maple syrup as contrast. On the palate full-bodied, warm and sweet. The alcohol could be better integrated, gets relatively sharp. The dark notes dominate here too. Spicy, dark fruits (especially berries) against woody caramel, maple syrup sweetness. Behind that tobacco, vanilla, apricot, chocolate. Great aromas, very intense and round. Deduction for the quite sharp alcohol. Next round I'll give it the hour of air it apparently needs.

A classic from Australia. Was my reference in this area for a long time. Intense, buttery with a nice spice. I'm glad I opened another bottle, but I must say it seemed almost impossible to drink 50cl of this intense rum alone. I still have a reserve, but next I'll rather open the competition from RA.

Quickly my statement before the bottle is gone. Great Australian. The nose is dominated by wonderful fruit notes. The palate shows the heavy dark side, with lots of wood, spice, a bit of tobacco and leather. I like it very much. The alcohol doesn't hide but is not too disturbing.

A very nice and complex beenleigh, that brings some herbal notes and cocoa into the game. The apple is still there and it is still pretty much the 2007 batch. Apple and roasted notes make this a banger.
