Thompson Bros. Clarendon Pot Distilled Jamaican Rum (Bar Tre) JMM 2000
Sip this neat and you get a soft, unusually fruity Clarendon — banana, mango, papaya and lychee with a touch of caramel and cream toffee. A couple of tasters guessed Barbados blind, it leans so tropical. The recurring catch: at 48.9% it still reads thin and a bit watery, and a light bitterness from the long aging shows up late.
- Bright tropical fruit
- Easy sipping
- Long oily finish

Aggregated from 12 community reviews.
Fruity, easy-drinking Clarendon that reads thin Loved for its bright tropical fruit and easy drinking, but several tasters wish it had more body and intensity — thin and a touch one-dimensional for the age.

Nice continental Clarendon, full of fruits and well integrated. Would have loved to see it with a higher abv and some more intensity. //update: rated it down a bit, in direct comparison to others the low abv and lack of complexity gets more pronounced but still a good sipper

Very, very fruity Clarendon. Blind, I would have guessed Barbados. Tropical fruits and yellow fruits are noticeable here, but also a hint of caramel and creamy toffee. But it just lacks the punch for me, it's too thin.

#6569 28.03.2026 - Part 4 The first online tasting of 2026 of the group we had in Shanghai. Funny that we are now living in different parts of the world again. Singapore, Sweden, UK, Denmark and Thailand 😊 Thank you for the samples Petter. This is a very nice bottling that can be caught at auction at a pretty good price tag. The nose fruity with banana, mango and glue. There is a very light wood and musty touch. The palate is oily and fruity with citrus, banana, earthy, salt and chocolate notes. The finish is long and oily with light roasted wood, faint smoke, mango, banana and caramel.

Surprisingly fruity for a Clarendon. The volume percentages are well chosen. It does not appear thin on the palate. Nice long finish.
Review by Mentalo
It has really nice fruity notes, but is unfortunately a little too watery.

Fruity, continental Clarendon. Fruity profile, light esters, alcohol is very well integrated. Slight sweetness, yellow fruits, a slight bitter note in the finish, probably due to the long ageing, but which fits well into the profile. Easy sipping rum, a nice rum, but lacking that special something for a higher rating.

A hint medicinal. Quite thin on the nose which surprises me, quince and jelly, with an even herb and fruity balance, papaya and lychee. The mouth is balanced and quite delicate with some rotting tropical fruits and a hint of lychee and caramel. It’s good but with a hint of bitterness The alcohol is not perfectly integrated which only comes to the fore towards the finish. For the ABV the finish is punchy, with some cloves and a touch of astringent menthol. It’s not the best and a bit one dimensional for me
