Habitation Velier Worthy Park Forsyths WPM 2006
Sip this one slowly in a tasting glass — at 57.5% it needs air and maybe a drop of water. Overripe banana, pineapple, glue and varnish meet a heavy dose of toasted oak, spice and leather from full tropical aging. More wood-forward than most Worthy Parks, and several tasters wish the alcohol were better integrated. Fans call it "highester funky Jamaican rum" done right.

How does Habitation Velier Worthy Park Forsyths WPM 2006 taste?
Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Fruity, woody, high-ester Jamaican sipper Widely loved as one of the best Worthy Parks around — fruity, funky and complex. The one recurring gripe: the alcohol can feel sharp and needs time to open.

A nose of fruit, banana, pineapple, tutti-frutti but also varnished old wood and leather. The palate contrasts with the liveliness of the nose; everything here is more balanced and the fruit is still very present. The finish is long, refined and balanced, with wet wood (larch) and roof tar appearing later. Lots of aromas in the empty glass.

Exceptional rum that at the second tasting impressed me the most. A strong rum that leaves its mark.Long finish with a slight hint of roasting.

dark fruit bread with dates, red berries and bananas, as well as a lot of wood on the nose.taste then much drier and woodier than expected with extremely much spice and also again reminiscent of fruit bread. in the finish comes some menthol and many bitter roasted flavors to it, as well as some grapefruit peel and again date. but also very dry and short in the finish. nevertheless, one of the better worthy parks I had so far.overall, however, he has me just too much wood...

I got this bottle at a very good price and it was a very nice surprise. Very fruity all the way and lightly dry in the finish. Retasting this one today and I still think it's pretty good.
Review by Sven
The best Worthy Park I've had in a glass. Tropical fruit with lots of spice and wood. Also notes of aniseed and licorice. A rum with rough edges that has a lot to offer. Intense in flavor and a long finish. Fun in the glass every time.
Review by MarcT
Had this open for a year now, and returned to it often. As I had the chance to broaden my experience I must reduce my rating for this rum. I believe the alcohol to be to much, it is too sharp in its burn, and (at least for me) makes it difficult to access the flavours. Water helps, time had not helped (as I hoped). Still, it has an intense smell, and, given time and water, one will have a good sipper for a slow evening. If just the alcohol would have been better integrated, which I know from comparison to other rums to be possible...
Review by Galli33
Very delicious WP. Classic mix of a fruit basket with the barrel and roated aromas. Alcohol could be integrated better

The initial releases of the Habitation Velier series were my introduction to the world of Worthy Park and are still among the best I know of the distillery. The profile of the 2006 release has rough edges, brings fiery spicy notes together with tart wood, anise, licorice and slightly mineral hints and sweet notes of tropical fruit and vanilla sugar. What can I say? Just really good.
Review by Maxence
Well balanced profile between fruits and round notes. Really nice Jamaïcan rum !
Review by Aussierumfan
This is a retaste and I am not changing my initial score from 2 years ago. A very nice jamaican from Worthy Park and to me is a great representation of the distillery. Fruit and spices, can get the oak influence coming through as well. A great nose and a medium to long finish.

9:On the nose, the first impression we get are esters and varnish, funkiness, opening with a red carpet for overripe tropical fruits like banana, pineapple, papaya and some raisins. Tipically for WP, grass, roasted wood and vanilla, perhaps with some caramelized confectionery.... When aired a bit, more bourbon yellow fruits, citrus, bathing in honey are scented, with smoky/leather undertones. The molasses delivers vegetal/herbal bias, which rounds up medicinal notes from the beginning... 9:On the palate, the attack is intensive with overripe, fermented tropical fruits, mentioned before, spicy with pepper, the wood is dry, roasted, put shortly, we enjoy sweet, buttery confectionery, filled with tasty, juicy marmelade, especially tasty are peaches, and creamy vanilla, bathing in honey!😋 After some rest, molasses delivers vegetal, a bit bitter herbaceous, tobacco undetones and cookie dough notes, perhaps a bit yeasty. 8,9:The finish is long and fruity, balanced, the wood a bit charred, toasted with some chocolate and roasted notes, vanilla, confectionery, spicy.Later, it becomes a bit musty, as we notice some cigar ashes. Delicious...an upgrade

A Worthy Park from Habitation Velier which offers a nice aromatic balance. It is neither in the high esters, nor in the more sanitized rums, it is well constructed. The nose opens on tropical fruits (pineapple and banana) before letting out some phenolic notes (esters, glue, solvents and varnish) then woody, spicy, roasted aromas and leather. A smell of baked apple emerges from this very round and comely blend. Caramel, brown sugar and dried fruits complete the olfactory panel. One discerns in mouth an oily, intense and dry rum, with at first exotic fruits and citrus fruits, which fade rather quickly to let dominate the woody flavors (barrel), spices (pepper, chili, vanilla, cinnamon), leather, empyreumatic notes (toasted, roasted). A very unusual profile for Jamaica, the cask having played a big role on this tropical aging rum, but not unpleasant. The esters are very much in the background, but the balance of flavors is there. The finish, quite long, comes back on the bitterness of leather and dark chocolate, woody notes, hot and spicy spices, some fruit and esters notes that complete this tasty and very varied profile.More concentrated and more mastered than its 2007 counterpart, this Worthy Park 2006 is a very nice bottling that reveals another side of Jamaican rum.

A worthy park that really amazed me! The alcohol is a bit overpowering but if you let it breathe well you can appreciate it well! A mix of memories of the flavors between Appleton and monymusk makes it a very unique rum but very enjoyable to drink!

Verdict: great rum, with intense wood maturation, yet without losing the distillery character. It's not sweet, dark, roasted and woody, with medium esters on pineapple and glue, blackbtea, briny olives, eucalyptus and spice. 87 points. Nose: Great medium to low level of esters, molten together with black tea, olive, brine, toasted oak. Pineapple, peach confectionery, glue. There is creamy vanilla note, and cake dough, tobacco leaf. Palate: oily, nice acidic, spicy and a bit drying, yet with enough "sweet" accents (well integrated alcohol). Darker, on black tea, roasted, a hint of smoke. Then brine, green olive, eucalyptus, green, pineapple, glue, ginger and clove. Finish: long, quite dark and spicy. Quite some toasted oak, a bit of smoke, pineapple, glue ginger, clove, black tea and briny olive.

Blind tasting Worthy Park with: HV WPL (RX272) HV WPM (RX1089) Schotman (RX17173) Wolfgang Klotz (RX21848) TWJ (RX14182) 3rd place (8.4): TWJ. The nose is quite closed and ends up somewhat unbalanced both on the nose and palate. Slightly bitter on the palate and also in the finish. 2nd place (8.6): HV WPL + WK Spirits. The WK brings overall more wood and spices and with plenty of time in the glass also more fruity aromas. The HV WPL also needs some time in the glass but then has a nicely complex nose. On the palate alongside tropical fruits also subtle glue and esters. 1st place (8.7): HV WPM + Schotman. The Schotman is probably the roundest WP in the cross tasting with a nice peach note. The WPM stands out with smoky aromas and licorice. WP has flown under my radar so far, undeservedly. I'm really positively surprised and will probably have a WP in my glass more often in the future :)

I've tasted several bottles of WP and I realize it's a different identity in Jamaican rums and not uninteresting at all. It's fruity and funky, but still keeps a certain elegance. Here it starts on the nose with tropical notes, palate evolving towards apple pear and a bit of butter caramel.
Review by Timo Groeger
Then a few small samples from Habitation Velier. Here a Worthy Park, which disappointed me a bit at first impression. On the nose and palate we have lots of esters, but also tropical fruits. Banana is mainly recognizable here. Still a good rum.
Review by Joachim Guger
A great nose, lots of ester and varnish. In the mouth then fierce, lots of wood and very furry.I like it very much, although I would prefer the 2007.
Review by Tim
Overall a bit weaker than the WP 2005 from Hab. Velier, but still very similar. On the nose a big load of fruit esters meeting a decent bourbon cask note. Very spicy, bitter, sharply dry, bitter chocolate and floral on the mouth and finish.
Review by Sebastian Kornett
to warm up two small sips in advance. After that, it's really fun like the Hampden overproof. Beautiful WP. For the price clear purchase recommendation. I have also fallen in love with this one <3
Review by Lukas Jäger
Very inviting nose. On the palate, first wild esters and alcohol that almost overrun the tongue and deliver A nice Jamaican feeling in the form of papaya, banana and co. Then always spice and wood as well. Very complex and delicious, with nice fruity notes. But although I like high esters and cask strength, I find it a bit boisterous in the mouth.
Review by Giuseppe Ambrosio
Among the three in the HV series, this mark is for me the most pleasant of the three. Excellent on the nose, excellent on the palate with a nice finish. (PS: the rating, like the impressions, are purely personal)
Review by Mentalo
I had the rum in the glass again after a long time and had to upgrade it a little. The integration of the alcohol remains a problem, but after a longer time in the glass you get very fine fruity notes, wood, spices, slightly mineral.
Review by Christoph
For Worthy Park typical fruit flavors are complemented here by smoky spicy notes. Especially the finish is strongly reminiscent of cigar and some chocolate and is rather atypical for the otherwise all-around fruity Worthy Parks, but it fits here.
Review by tolf
Quite different from what I'm used to from Jamaica with Hampden, New Yarmouth, Monymusk and Long Pond. For me, it's very close to a fruit brandy and the alcohol should also be better integrated.
Review by Rene Pfeiffer
Beautifully complex. The typical banana flavor combined with wood and nice soft estery notes that become more the longer the rum can breathe. Great.
Review by alex
I love it. Perfect this juice. Beautiful color, great nose, and that sick taste 😍😍😍
Review by Vincent D
No doubt about the origin of this rum. Woody, fruity nose, esters, banana. On the palate, the alcohol is powerful but properly integrated. The first impressions are confirmed. Funky as can be. Very pleasant. Thanks to Rodolphe for the sample.
Review by Jarek
Tasty. I have to test it in direct comparison to the WPM from LMDW.
Review by Beancheese
Full disclosure- not usually a big fan of Worthy Park. Not to say I dislike them but they don’t particularly appeal that much either. This one noticeably stood out as more estery than what I’ve had from WP in the past and got me excited. Aside from esters there was the usual wood and caramel, vanilla and a surprising amount of fruit. But there was also a bit of solvents and something a tick harsh. On the palate this one was more woody than the nose suggested. Spicy, estery, roasty and some intensity. The fruit was overpowered by the barrel influence. Some smoke and leather popping in there too. Has some rough edges in a good way, and it grew on me with time, but still not a fave by any stretch.
Review by Émile Shevek
On the nose, it's full-bodied and intense with notes of ripe tropical fruit esters, varnish/enamel, forest/barrel/leather, and some floral and raisin hints, really complex and intriguing with great roundness. On the palate, it's equally intense and enveloping, presenting the same notes decisively with a slightly dry frame and the addition of spices, roast, some citrus, and peanuts, always with a lot of roundness, balance, and a very well-integrated ABV. Medium-long and decisive finish. The rating fluctuates between 8.5 and 8.6.
Review by Stylo
Color: Amber with mahogany nuances. Good viscosity and oiliness, with well defined legs.Nose: In the opening, caramel, dried fruit, sweet notes of vanilla and chocolate, with hints of olive. With oxygenation, notes of honey come out.Mouth: sweet notes of caramel in the opening, followed by very pungent spicy hints. Persistent olive scent.Very round and persistent in the mouth. Notes of red fruits are perceived - strawberry and cherry above all.
Review by Luca
For me, this bottling is very special because it showed me for the first time a few years ago what a longer tropical aging can do. Tastes like a very good Grays _ Mauritius rum with additional ester/fruit power. Absolute WP top league.
Review by Rumpalumpa
A nice Worthy Park that doesn't necessarily bombard with esters, but holds them a bit behind the spiciness from the cask. Alcohol is noticeable. The fruits and sharp spice remain long in the finish.
Review by Cinci
I like it slightly better than the 2007 bottling, it feels more intense and stronger. Only the alcohol could be better integrated. The notes are dominated by tropical fruits (mango, banana), spice, esters, solvents, vanilla and leather.
Review by Agricoler
Day 7 Sample de Luxe Calendar. Wow, I just love Worthy Park, for me it is a wonderful blend of fruit, esters, spices and woodiness. Really good Worthy Park which was really great for the price at the time. Top PLV
Review by Maxime Clr 🇫🇷
Super hyper indulgent nose! Raisins, tropical fruits, a bit of ester! The palate follows the nose's indulgence! Lots of fruit, a bit of esters, pepper and chili. It's very very good 🥹
Review by Thunderbird
Nose: first a sweet scent of fresh pineapple and banana, then ester and vanilla Palate: creamy / velvety spreads the rum, woody and spiciness spreads, green pepper joins it, at the end develops a slight sour note,In the finish then sweetness and wood againTasty
Review by Serge
Also delicious Worthy Park with a little more ester and tropical fruit than the 2007 WPL. For me personally, the WPL profile wins here in a direct comparison, as the lower esters simply fit better here and it is somewhat finer in the mouth.
Review by Marcel.
Very nice drink. one of the best Jamaicans I tried so far. It very much shines on the palate with a lot of complexity and balance. Has a little bit of everything . You get a lot here for the price. Considering to buy my own bottle.
Review by Barnagricole
Disturbing green wood on the palate, maybe a heating defect in the barrel
Review by tojo
Very promising nose with dried fruit, pineapple, papaya, vanilla and croissant. The palate is dominated by tart notes of wood, leather and coffee. Finish with bitter notes.
Review by Jeremy Roger 🇫🇷
A tropical fruity and a solvent side well dosed. A not unpleasant bitterness! It is good, powerful and balanced.
Review by Djehey
I like the Worthy Park. They are less demanding than other Jamaicans. The woodiness is well felt and brings a pleasant vanilla and pastry touch to the classic tropical fruits/esters. Also, I find it helps tame these aromas. To be tested against its distillery alter ego.
Review by Johannes
Relatively atypical WP, which goes more in the direction of MM!
Review by Michal S
Very nice aroma of tropical fruit and juicy taste with a finish of wood with a bit of sharpness. In direct comparison with the 2005 and 2007 vintages, it's a bit behind but definitely a solid rum with excellent value for money.
Review by Tobin
Feels even fruitier than other Worthy Parks. Super delicious, fruity profile on the nose. On the palate, a bit more spicy but not intrusive. Definitely a recommendation for tasting as well.
Review by TheJackDrop
A profile a bit more esterified but ultimately rounder than its 2007 brother and less spicy. Finish also shorter in my opinion.
