People easing into agricole will find this an unusually gentle one — a 2-year Martinique from Clément that trades sharp sugarcane funk for vanilla, dried apple and young oak. Several tasters call out a smoky, almost campfire edge that either charms you or gets in the way. Milder and sweeter than most agricoles, it works neat but plenty of members reach for it in cocktails.

Overall it’s a very kind Agricole, maybe too kind. The nose is fruity, pleasant and floral but weak with aroma of sugarcane. At the palate it’s sweet, fruity and smooth with flavors of vanilla, grass and sugarcane. The finish is short to medium and smooth.

Caribbean vacation September 2026. Shop Boutique Saturne in Martinique. In our last destination, there is still a well-stocked liquor store. Here, another average Agricole. Also fresh and vanilla again.

11.12.2018 Enjoying samples at home. Colour Medium dark in colour. Nose Light, light wood, sugarcane, faint floral, faint chocolate, light menthol, berries. Palate Light, floral, light wood, light roasted, sugarcane, light orange, faint leather, spice, light chocolate. Finish Short to medium, light wood, sugarcane, light honey, light leather, faint chocolate, berries.

This aged agricole has a bit of the expected vegetal aroma on the nose, but it is mostly covered by wood, vanilla, and apple. The taste is smokey and toasted with a shorter finish that is woody with spice. It tastes a bit like wood and smoke are masking some of the finer flavors of the rum rather than enhancing them.

Tasting neat my new supply for mixing. This is very smooth, smell of honey and citrus, refreshing minerality with pepperness and anise. Alcohol well integrated.

Clément rum is an elegant agricole, made from fresh sugarcane juice. It offers a dry, sophisticated profile with notes of vanilla, spices and a slightly woody finish. Great balance, ideal for slow sipping and premium cocktails.

The nose hits first with vanilla and the dried apple chips you get in cereal bars. There's also some grassy sugarcane, tobacco and faint young wood. The palate has the vanilla from the nose, keeping things sweet. Followed by old oak, the apple for the nose, more subtle this time. Peppery towards the end. The finish is mid length. Moving from a note of hay in a warm barn to smoke. Interesting. I don't dislike this. Not your usual agricole from Martinique. Sweeter, less sugarcane forward.

Great rhum in my view! I love the Rhum blanc flavours and taste and it usually gets somewhat lost in aged rhums, but this keeps great balance of vanilla/barrel notes with grassy and floral notes of blanc. Recommend!

Maybe a little cinnamon in the aroma. Less of an earthy flavor than I am used to with agricoles; and sweeter. The cinnamon did not follow through to the taste.

In the smell, for me fruits and sugarcane are clearly in the foreground, I smell sour apples, plums and clearly sugarcane. I don't perceive spices here at all, wood if at all only a slight sherry cask note. On the palate it is rather mild with a slightly smoky note, clearly grassy, fruity and for me very nutty (almond/bitter almond). The finish is medium for me, very pleasant, nutty and again the sherry cask note. I'm not a big fan of Agricole rum, but this one is really very pleasant. Both neat and as a mixer, especially for the affordable price.

Smooth, short finish. Very herbal, what I would expect from an agricole. Slight odd aftertaste, can't quite pin down what it is. Could help brighten up a cocktail if needed.
