Expect caramel, vanilla, oak and a little coconut and chocolate, with a smoky woody palate. One taster called it "round and complex," but plenty found it thin and flat, with an occasional metallic-solvent note on the nose.

Day trip Dortmund August 2025. Shop Stendels. Then I got to taste 3 Don Q on site. This one has a pleasant sweetness in the nose with notes of vanilla, caramel, and cocoa. On the palate, it's more woody and smoky.

Extremely thin, watered down and smoky, metallic. Unfortunately, I don't like it at all and, above all, it's never worth 60€. Unfortunately, it's quite a letdown for me and very flat overall. But I wasn't expecting much either...

Here I have a nice rum from my early days in the glass. The reason for buying it back then, I believe, was the beautiful bottle with the nice box. The nose shines with uncomplicated lightness. Caramel, oak, vanilla, cookies, brown sugar, coconut, and milk chocolate create a mild, slightly nutty aroma at this intensity. On the palate, sweetness is present at first. Mild flavors of vanilla, wood, caramel, brown sugar, coconut, oak, and almonds make the rum easy to drink. The short and gentle finish offers oak, caramel, dark chocolate, coconut, light roasted notes, and cocoa. If you're after a light rum with a stylish presentation, then this Don Q with its unspectacular profile is by no means overwhelming and a good choice.

At first, I had an unpleasant off-note on the nose, metallic, solvent-like, then later wood, vanilla, caramel, a bit of alcohol; surprisingly little complexity on the tongue, flat, slight alcohol sharpness, poor value for money.
