Sip this one neat and slow — it's a 25-year Albion from Velier, and at 46.4% it drinks unusually soft for the age. Expect vanilla, cream toffee, roasted coconut and a salty edge, with green cardamom and warm spice underneath. Most tasters call it beautifully balanced; a couple note the low proof leaves the palate a touch thin. Rare and very hard to find.

Very horny bourbon nose. But too flat on the palate.

A liquid cream candy - on the nose extremely dominant caramel, vanilla and cream notes. On the palate, spicier hints are added, but unfortunately the dilution is also noticeable and takes the rum a little density. Nevertheless, an extremely drinkable and pleasing drop.

Great breakfast rum 😃 Joking aside, really tasty old vintage Albion! Reminds me brutally of cardamom rolls, awesome intense fresh green cardamom note, complemented by allspice, cinnamon, salt toffee and toasted coconut. Extremely balanced and elegant with a long finish despite the "only" 46%. Drink of the gods!

Another of the nice rums in the tasting today. This is a great rum, maybe the proof should have been a tiny tad higher but all in all nice. A very expensive drop, which is very hard to get your hands on, but we'll worth every penny.

My penultimate tasting of an Albion bottled by Velier. This one is quite special with a very low ABV. Still an amazing rum with outstanding aromatic depth for such low ABV (which is perfectly integrated by the way). The profile is rather on the sweet side but extremely well-balanced. Definitely an excellent rum ! 🇬🇾

... Old Velier Demerara rums are the best you can taste in the rum world. Rums aged rather accidentally for several years in the tropics and nobody topped up the cask contents. The angel's share was 90% or more, which is why the taste is especially full and intense. Even though it's an extra expensive affair, I recommend trying a rum from this series at least once in your life.
