Cadenhead's T.D.L Green Label Trinidad Rum 2003

Most tasters land on "the same page here: that classic minty, creamy TDL profile, with fresh garden mint, strawberry and raspberry, mango and a touch of leather. A few call it good but nothing special, partly down to the modest 46%. One reviewer even caught a whiff of oloroso sherry in the long, dry finish. Intense despite the low strength.

Yes, this is the beautiful and minty TDL profile, very nice! Nose: Directly floral, fresh mint that just grew in the garden. Plus leather, raspberry, strawberry, neat forest honey with peach and mango. Palate: Again directly mint, which here becomes Strawberry mint, combines deliciously. That's how it should be, very tasty! Astringent, but positively and very adjusted strong, then forest honey, mango and in the background actually pushes a nuance of Oloroso Sherry with in, perhaps was here a solo stave of an Oloroso (YOLOroso) in the game at the barrel? With Cadenheads, you'll know... subtle oak and caramel in the long finish dominated by Spain. Nice TDL for the price!Overall today: Rasta Morris>Rom de Luxe minimal >Plantation 2001 virtually on par with <> Cadenheads Green Label Trinidad 18 yo. which would probably have been better than the Plantation without dilution > Tamosi TDL 2000 which completely loses out here, no chance. 2001 2003 similar mint and diesel and polish and oak best2000 2002 similar less mint hardly any diesel less polish and less oak. Style Spanish more typical but very nice and clearly more powerful than what is otherwise known from this style.

A good (not too woody or varnishy) 2000's TDL that was sold 72€ by Dugas here in France. Best RQP rum of 2022 for me!

Typical minty creamy TDL. Low abv makes it easy to sip even for beginners.

Good, but nothing special. May also be due to the low %. Recently, many TDL's came out, which clearly put this one in the shade.

Angostura is famous for a bottle most people never drink neat. The bitters house founded in 1824 became Trinidad's only rum distillery, and its arm Trinidad Distillers makes a clean, column-distilled, Spanish-style rum unlike the heavy funk of Jamaica or Guyana. The same plant still guards the secret recipe for the world's most famous cocktail bitters.
