Finish Medium to long, light roasted wood, dry, herbs, citrus.

One of the smoothest MM I tasted so far. Rather light on the nose, providing a well rounded combination of fruits and herbs. Same does continue throughout. Elegant and well balanced MM with moderate ester concentration.

Trade fair evaluation - Hanse Spirit.

A very pleasant balanced MM! The alcohol is well integrated, it is almost too well-behaved! The bottling is absolutely successful.

The first surprise of the Monymusk was its color, which I have never seen so bright for a 17 year old rum. In the nose then fruit, especially mango, yogurt, glue and refreshing eucalyptus. Taste then fruit and a good portion of wood, which I would not have expected so with the color. The fruit then turns to acid on the finish which, along with the tannins, has a long finish. Tasted as a 2cl sample. The bottle price today is 190€ (as of 03.02.2022) and although it is very tasty I would not buy a bottle at this price.

Tasted this in direct comparison to the 2005 17y Green Label. Opens fruity, herbaceous and rich in barrel seasoning on the nose. It’s hard to decipher what went into the tropical smoothie, but hints of plantains and mango are definitely present. The fluid presents itself sharp and aggressive, even though the alcohol is integrated well. In the mouth accessible flavours with a return of the tropical mix, vanilla, pepper, and minty toothpaste. A touch of gluestick and ever so slight diesel notes, bring some necessary filth (read: complexity). These latter notes linger for quite a bit. All in all pretty good, but the price of entry is too steep.
