Sipped neat, this is a full-throttle Hampden: overripe pineapple and banana up front, with a big blast of esters and a "nail salon" chemical note riding alongside the fruit. At 62% it hits like an ester steamroller that fills the whole mouth, then fades fairly quickly. Several tasters swear it drinks more like a C<>H than the LROK mark on the label.

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery, you can sense wild esters, after which your whole body soaks in the scent of yellow tropical fruits – mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die."

Unfortunately a whisky note that I don't like so much. I'm not sure if I didn't have another rum in the glass last time. This sample is a perfect Hampden. I have nothing to complain about.

Tasted together with the Rumclub HD 2000 ED.21 (LROK, RX11190) and Kill Devil Jamaica 2007 (C<>H, RX1921)Already the color is more similar to the 07'er.Nose: Stronger than the ED.21 but more one-sided. Powerful esters and overripe pineapple and a little marzipan. Again great similarity to 07'er C<>Mouth: an ester steamroller! The entire mouth space is immediately filled. Alcohol and barrel influence show through. But the flavor explosion also dissipates relatively quickly. Almost identical taste and mouthfeel on the C<>H.Finish: The barrel influence gets stronger. Kingsheaven and Kill Devil are virtually indistinguishable.I am now certain: the Mark LROK on the Kingsheaven is a mistake. Blind I would not be able to tell the Kill Devil and the Kingsheaven apart.

Very solid 2007 C<>H, with a LROK as noted on the bottle has nothing to do. See him but rather in the lower midfield of the known 2007 bottlings.

The C<>H brand is definitely my favorite Hampden brand, and although the bottler here claims LROK, I definitely wouldn’t guess that. It’s a beautiful fruity piece, full of pineapple and bananas in both nose and taste. Very nice.

In the beginning too much of the nose/taste that doesn't resemble anything edible. After few sips banana and tropical fruits come which is nicely rewarding. But still perhaps over my current expertise level.

Intense on the palate, medium to short length. A real candy side. It has an interesting nose, with a sour cheese side not unpleasant... Who said old smelly sock? Good value for money.

Tasting Great stuff. This mark is undoubtedly one of the best if not the best that Hampden has to offer. A very good bottle, rich, tropical, estery, strong. You can feel it is light and honestly I like these releases that are not tropical shy. I must say there were several deals cutting it by 30-40 percent in price. Still haven't bought it. There are so many alternatives and parallel things that are better. And yet... very good rum.

Ein richtig schöner Hampden mit genialen Fruchtnoten, bei denen Ananas dominiert. Voll präsent ist aber genauso die Funkinese mit chemischen Noten. Hier dominiert - wie es Robyn Smith sagen würde - „Nail Salon“. Das ist der Preis für die geniale Frucht. Jung und etwas ungestüm im Vergleich zum C<>H von Kinghaven (gebrannt 2007, abgefüllt 2022).

Color golden. Nose esters, fruit, plums. Taste tropical fruit, overripe bananas, pineapple, esters, fruity sweetness, well integrated alcohol. Finish long tropical fruit and esters. Stronger esters than I expected for LROK but I enjoy it.
