20.06.2026 Retasting and I still find it pretty good 😊 --------- 23.02.2024 Enjoying some samples at home while relaxing. Colour Colour dark to very dark in colour. Nose Wood, faint roasted, spice, light orange, light dried fruit, faint caramel, light earthy. Palate Balanced, wood, light roasted, spice, oily, light earthy, faint smoke, light dried fruit, faint peaches, light caramel. Finish Medium to long, wood, faint smoke, spice, medium spicy, fruits, light orange, faint caramel.

And the next SBS Mauritius afterwards. Actually no big difference visible between 2008 and 2009. I think I also mixed up the photos :-) Again a lot of wood and herbs/mint on the palate. Delicious.

Here a SBS from Mauritius from 2008 with 54 percent. I find this rum very successful. You can taste leather directly and also the woody barrel which also dominates in the smell. In my opinion, a top rum.

A very interesting Mauritius from S.B.S. The nose is both fruity and woody with leather, herbs, cherry, orange, and vanilla. On the palate, the 54% provide a mouth-filling intensity. Wood, tannins, spices, and almost a bit of bacon lead into nutty and fruity directions. Then, the French oak adds pleasant earthy notes that finish with mint and herbs. The medium-long finish offers red fruits, cask notes, earthy accents, and again something meaty. Alongside the fruit notes, there's also a nice influence from the port wine cask. A very interesting taste experience that was worth it.
