"I'd have bet on a Lowland whisky blind," says one member, and that's the whole story here. 8,3:On the nose, smoky whisky, peat, salty, flowery, herbaceous sugarcane, sweet with honey, grassy, roasted wood, spicy with ginger, grapes, dried apricots, raisins, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the rum is oily, slightly dirty, the cane is mineral, earthy, vegetal with eucalyptus, roasted nuts and leather join, some yellow fruits. 8:On the palate, the attack is interwoven with whisky finish and fresh, juicy sugarcane, as notes of peat, malt, smokiness and brine plays gand in hand with sweet sugar cane honey, grassy, flowery, herbaceous, earthy, minty, dark with black tea, mineral and fruits like grapes, dried fruits, roasted wood with cocoa, spicy vanilla and ginger. 8:The finish is medium long, dry, medicinal with solvents, flowery, herbaceous, earthy sugarcane, pairing smoky, salty, peated whisky notes, dried fruits, grapes, perhaps cherries and roasted oak, spicy. Strange finish that does not give me Barbados wibes at all. Maybe it is because of the cask finish or unexpected associations, but not my case at all . Rather disappointing :-( I just don’t understand why you would ruin a good distillatie like this

So if this doesn't have a whiskey finish, I'll eat my hat. Very strong smoky, medicinal aromas, along with some grape, cherry, and herbal honey, as well as cocoa. Unfortunately, the whiskey notes dominate very strongly and I can not understand why such a thing is not shown on the bottle ... Can you drink already but then should stop Whisky Finish drauf Stehen...

Would have tasted blind on a light Lowland whiskey tipped. With a few dashes of herbal lemonade and cold mint tea. No complexity monster, but definitely very idiosyncratic. Is not an Agricole by definition, but goes in this direction.

My RumRatings review from 4 years ago: On the nose, the rum has a good mix of fresh cut grass, smoke, roasted fruit, and a nice floral undertone. On the palate, the cask influence is clear. The grassy notes are caught by peat, old wet wood. A nice fruity sweetness comes through, but also some pepper and spice. The rum is oily and heavy. Towards the finish, it gets spicier and alongside the peaty notes, hay and bitterness appear. The rum is earthy. An unusual and quirky rum. You really have to be in the mood for Agricole and peated cask here. Even though that makes the rum quite complex, it's more interesting for a tasting where several rums are sampled. As a solo drink, it's a bit too strict for me. Not a daily sipper.
