The taste offers roasted walnuts, burnt caramel and apricots, as well as a bitter almond taste that dominates the palate.

I bought my first bottle of Zacapa at the airport in Fort de France. 😂 Since I finished that one, I haven't had any more in my glass. Let's see. Plenty of caramel, vanilla, barrel and corresponding spice. Dried fruits. Overall, the profile is dominated by burnt orange peel. The nose is balanced, complexity is a foreign word. Even poured generously, it can't develop strength in the 20s Blenders glass. On the palate then very simple. Caramel, sweetness (in moderation), dried fruits, wood, and spice. Short finish. A pleasant, simple rum. Tastes good, sweet and smooth. Nothing more, nothing less.

I actually like this better than the Solera 23 because it's not quite as sweet. Overall, it's a bit woodier, almondy, and dark caramel. Fig, vanilla, and a very light white pepper on the finish.

An incredibly round and balanced rum, which brings the post-maturation in heavily charred ex-bourbon casks to the fore. The fruit is skillfully restrained on the palate and is crowned by a long-lasting finish.
