Most tasters land on the same verdict: a likeable young Clarendon that's fruity, easy and well-behaved, but not as deep as the older EMB bottlings. Expect ripe banana, pineapple, glue-like esters and toasted young wood, with the 58% alcohol nicely tucked in. Several note it opens up after time in the glass. Good, just not the top-tier stuff.

8,5:On the nose, the first attack is gluey. When it calms down, all the esters come through, like a nice, warm summer sunshine with its freshness and warmth. We get exotic fruits with ripe banana, pineapple, mango, some citrus note, lemon peel, intertwined with toasted wood, honey, candied fruits.Herbal notes like sage, annis, are a nice, fresh companion. Aeration brings-when we think it is all finished, baking spices with baked apple, chocolate and some salty pastry. Coffee/caramel hints cannot hide from noticing. 8,9:On the palate it is round, syrupy with exotic/tropical fruits like roasted banana, pineapple, tangy fruits, plum jam. The wood is toasted, buttery, waxy, we find yeasty note, sweet spices, caramel note comes vaguely. Smokiness is light and nicely weaven in syrupy touch of this rum. 8,5:The finish is woody, a bit dry, astringent, with green apple, sultanas, some tropical fruits lingering from the palate, minimal spicy with smoky hints. Very good young Clarendon. Much better than its MMW counterpart tasted just before. A little less fruity but more balanced and much more enjoyable.

#5926 06.11.2025 Relaxing with a few new samples I picked up today. Nose Balanced, light wood, berries, anise, light medicinal, spice, faint mineral. Palate Oily, anise, light wood, faint roasted, light cherry, light salty, light medicinal, light citrus. Finish Long, oily, light wood, berries, light licorice, vanilla. Empty glass Vanilla, light caramel, faint floral, light licorice, light cherry.

Great young EMB with 7 years of tropical maturation. For me, a lot of tropical ageing is actually best for this Mark and I think these barrel picks for younger single casks are a bit of a shame - because these barrels will then be missing from future generations of EMB that have matured for a long time in the tropics 😉 Nevertheless, this one is very tasty and fruity.

Fruity on the nose (apple and citrus), fine ester notes, glue, young wood. On the palate then intense, dry, spicy and warm, very easy to drink. The finish is medium-length, dry and spicy. I like it a lot.

Overall, this Clarendon is quite good, but in my opinion there are better bottlings. I find it very alcoholic on the nose. After a good resting time it gets better. Best to leave it for longer.

2014 EMB so far rather a rarity. It does not have the complexity of the old bottlings. But here a Clarendon with well-integrated alcohol. Fruity and spicy. Can be drunk very pleasantly. Even if it can't (yet) keep up with the top vintages.

Light color, esters, overripe bananas, glue. Yum! Really very successful. On the palate, beautiful ester sweetness transitioning into glue and ending in overripe or black bananas and finish with dark caramel. Medium finish.

A pleasant younger Clarendon that offers a relatively standard profile - pronounced tropical fruits and esters with a bit of sharpness and toasted wood. Nice drink, if you can get it at a reasonable price, I recommend trying it.
