CDI Ten Cane Trinidad (Bottled for Denmark) 2008
Most tasters land on "a good, not great" Ten Cane, with a couple of outliers calling it either a bomb or a flat dud. Expect a heavy, creamy pour: dark chocolate, mocha, coffee, plenty of oak and tannin, with sour cherry and dried fruit underneath. The recurring gripe is the alcohol — at 60.7% it's hot and not always tucked in neatly. A little water and time in the glass help.
- Dark chocolate & coffee
- Creamy, oily body
- Sour cherry notes

Second tasting:After some time in the glass, the alcohol is no longer so disturbing. I relativize my rating but still (-4).This Ten Cane goes strongly in the direction of Caroni, in the nose still the familiar profile of Ten Cane with the almond and sour cherry aromas. But on the palate it really takes off: a lot of wood, nuts in between, the alcohol is very present, a lot of dark chocolate and lots of coffee and machine oil. The finish becomes more differentiated again with walnut, almonds and red fruits. Not the best, but a very good Ten Cane with a dirty side. And I am again intrigued by the sour cherry notes!

Till today Ten Cane was more like an underdog for me, due to the samples i‘ve tried so far! But this one is a bomb and by far the best one i‘ve tried so far. I enjoyed this a lot, due all the wonderfull notes and complexity. The alcohol is well noted, but i think at the it has a big influence on the outcome 🥃

A TDL that comes more from the dark heavy side. In the nose initially still some fruit (sour cherry), he then changes with something fresh in the spicy leathery corner.creamy he spreads on the palate and comes strongly with wood, dark chocolate, mocha, nut and spicy notes therefore! Something prune I also taste out!The finish is medium long with almost identical flavors!I like very much!

Neat Ten Cane, but alcohol integration is not optimal here either.

Insgesamt ganz okay.

Beautiful nose. Very light Caroni touch, fruity. The 61% is well integrated. In the mind then massive tannins and furry, then the pleasure decreases a bit. Finish rather short.

#4636 08.03.2024 Tasting with Romhatten. Nose Wood, light coffee, faint smoke, light chocolate, mint, alcoholic, berries, floral, light caramel. Palate Warm, wood, light roasted, earthy, light chocolate, faint glue, floral, light cherry, caramel. Finish Medium to long, wood, floral, light salt, apple, light roasted.

Alkohol nicht gut eingebunden, geschmacklich relativ flach.

When opening the sample, I was really excited about what awaits me here. The very first impression, even before pouring went for me in the direction of Jamaica, perhaps a good EMB, plus some dirt, which is so typical of some distilleries in Trinidad. After tasting, I must unfortunately conclude: This is times nix! Alcoholic, very woody-bitter, here my impression of the fluctuating quality of Ten Cane is unfortunately confirmed. From really tasty to really not to use I had now already everything. Very sad, but so seen a small consolation, since I otherwise actually regret that Ten Cane was open only so briefly!

Good finish. Chocolate palpable. However, alcohol sharpness in the mouth palpable.
