#8th dec RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: fresh, woody, various fruits, fruity, after some time i found some hints of rubber and a dominant smell of marzipan Palate: rubber, fruity, barrel, oak, nutty, licorice Finish: medium, toasted, oak Very lovely rum 🤤I enjoyed this one a lot. The Alcohol is integrated very well. My Prediction: Jamaica Clarendon Approx. 60% Approx. 10 years of aging

Somewhat of an outlier compared to the other 2000 WIRDs I tasted so far… more into the realm of flowers and less pronounced honey notes… not bad though, just different…

Rum X Advent 8.12.22Pure confusion. Like the one song which runs in the bar and you know you know it, but just does not come on it and it does not let you go the whole evening. I was sure I knew the rum. But did not get it.

Interesting bottling: the rum oscillates between fruity, floral, spicy and medicinal. This continues until the aftertaste. Pleases with well only the bitter tone in the aftertaste is too strong with.

Day 8 RumX,A lovely fruity nose with a minimal floral note. On the palate it spreads smoothly and mildly. First the fruity side appears before moving into the smoky dirty side! Some vanilla and honey are also there! The finish is relatively unspectacular and short! There he loses unfortunately something, otherwise he would have gotten more points

for comparison in the other glass the Cave Guildive WIRD 2000 poured. The Kill Devil has a completely different profile. In the CG the more distinctive honey-smoke Rockley notes, the Kill Devil does not have these so, rather floral (violets), fruity and praline/toffee. Toasty on the palate, barrel, mocha, dirty/menthol. For me, clearly not Rockley style (at least not typical), but still interesting.

A rum from Barbados that changes from the ordinary. If we find the typical markers beforehand in the nose (spices, fruits, sweet notes) we feel after aeration an empyreumatic touch, close to the tar and floral notes which bring a lot of complexity. The attack in mouth continues on the spicy, chocolate, caramelized frame, but also on the smoked notes, the tar being always perceptible. The whole is round, dry, with character but well controlled. The finish, relatively average in length, is more traditional, smooth and a bit honeyed. A very nice rum that changes the typical profile found in Barbados.

I love the "red label" releases from Kill Devil (cask strength) because they're generally a lot better than the watered down versions. The nose is fruity with wood, vanilla, toffee, tar and floral notes. After resting i can also get leather notes. The palate is fruity and woody with vanilla, rubber and tar trailed by honey and caramel. The finish is long and warm with fruit, wood and spices. Price to quality is very good.

RumX Advent Calendar December 8:The nose I found after some time in the glass very nice. Somewhat reminiscent of whiskey and amaretto, with some orange peel, spices, wet cardboard and something green in the background. In the taste initially not mine at all, reminded me too much of whiskey. With time, a pleasant honey sweetness has come to it. The continues in the finish, which I like better again and is accompanied by light mocha notes.I wanted to try a 2000 WIRD for a long time, I stay with Barbados then but I think I prefer the classic profile.

Chapeau!🥃

Extra strong technical taste. Pretty far far from Rockley, more like Long Pond

"Doesn't taste as medicinal as a Rockley of the same year (this one is distilled in July, not June), but goes in a similar direction. Beautiful bottling which is not common. Had mistakenly held in the calendar the Taiwan Rum for this rum."
