The surprise here is how little fruit shows up for a 30-year Port Mourant — several tasters find the oak has taken over. Expect big toasted wood, licorice and anise, dark chocolate, tobacco and an oily, slightly "dirty" mouthfeel. One reviewer got green apple and marzipan on the nose; others say it dried out and sat past its peak. Long, tannic, dry finish.

This ia a very nice release and a very well balanced profile. Lightly fruity with some licorice in the profile and I really like the balance with the roasted wood notes and the oiliness on the palate. Price to quality can be argued but it is a good rum nonetheless.

8,7:On the nose, toasted wood with nuts, dark chocolate, leather, spicy with anise, grassy, flowery molasses, sweet with honey, candied, dark with licorice, citrus fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, it becomes fruitier with apple, banana, raisins, the molasses is earthy with tobacco, some medicinal notes join, vanilla and caramel. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is oily, slightly dirty with toasted wood notes like caramel, leather, spicy with vanilla, anise, hints of allspice, medicinal tones, grassy, flowery molasses, sweet with honey, dark with licorice, musty, vegetal, as the fruits are green and dried with raisins. 8,7:The finish is long, round and balanced, delicious, dry and tannic with toasted oak and chocolate, leather, spicy, slightly dirty, fruity with dried fruits, the molasses is grassy, candied. And to end the year, a great Uitvlugt. By now, I quite like these musty things. Here we have licorice, dark chocolate, and it’s toasty, woody, complex, oily, and medicinal. Happy New Year 2026 to everyone.

A nice round Uitvlugt with a well-integrated but also low ABV. The typical aromas of dark wood, tobacco and toasted barrel. A very successful bottling but a few hundred euros too expensive for me.

What a delicious, smooth, and beautifully rounded Uitvlugt PM rum. Very soft tropical notes on the nose and palate. Slightly sweet, tobacco with delicious roasted notes from the barrel and dark chocolate. Nice and long finish and the alcohol is perfectly integrated. A delicious sipper

Nice PM with lots of wood (a bit too much for me), spices, licorice, and roasted aromas. The fruit notes are overall a bit too weak for me, although the apple on the nose was interesting. Alcohol is mild. Value for money in my opinion is not good.

The palate on the nose remains quite woody eventhou this rum did sit in the glass for a good 40 minutes. On the nose: Very woody and toasted. Under that there is green apple note. Light licorice notes. Tobacco notes. Light marzipan note. Taste: Woody. Spices. Licorice notes. Oily note. To me, the mouthfeel is slightly dirty. It has some light earthy in to it. Finish: Woody and toasted. Light licorice notes. Leather notes. Mouthfeel is dirty and dry. Maybe leaning too much to woody notes and lacks of complexity and richness in order to score higher points. I cant really justify the high price point, have a taste before you make purchase decisions.

Right after pouring, I'm reminded of a richly stocked spice rack. The nose is literally flooded with aromas of black peppercorns, nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, allspice. At first, there's no trace of fruit except a hint of bergamot. Only after some standing time do the spice notes retreat a bit and the rum noticeably broadens its spectrum, although the fruitiness remains rather low. Lots of licorice and anise on the palate. A really good, long-aged Uitvlugt, but for my taste, it could have come out of the barrel a bit earlier.

This is not a bad rum, but the price-performance ratio is really pushing it. The alcohol is very well integrated, but it also lacks a bit of intensity. Slightly fruity, barrel notes, licorice root.

Once again, a convincing Port Mourant from 1990. The parallels to the Versailles profile also show here in the form of minerality and pencil shavings, but there are also fully ripe citrus fruits and subtle tropical fruits, which give the profile, along with the wood, a great balance. You have to like the rather dry underlying aroma despite everything, but even without such preferences, one could state that this is an exquisite release with perfectly executed maturation, which also impresses with flawless alcohol integration.
