Compared to the previous "Beast" this one is slightly better, but only by margins. I got a good price on this bottle and that convinced me to get it. The nose is woody and smoky with leather, varnish and solvents in almost perfect harmony. The palate is intense, complex and medium bitter with roasted oak, leather varnish and a hint of tobacco and coffee. The finish is long and bitter with roasted oak. Price to quality can be argued, but it is a palate teaser.

Fun thing. I did not have the first Beast. I found the nose extremely cool. It reminds me of plastic toys from the nursery. I also found a lot of Caroni notes. Then in the mouth it's joined by some neat smoke and varnish. And in the finish first, a surprising amount of fruit components. The finish is long. But with time remains the taste of an ashtray filled with menthol cigarettes.

Just like the first version, this is truly a beast. However, the second version feels (from memory) rounder and more delicate. There are hints of fruits alongside Caroni notes (which however are pretty much overwhelmed by leather and wood)

Extreme wood, bitter and spice notes. Fun every now and then, but not for every day. You really have to be ready for it. Compared to the #1 Beast, this bottling brings more fruit and feels "rounder".

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing rum at the height of its fame, which was added in a ratio of 1:10 to naval blends. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000 the distillery ended production and was closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who liked the rum precisely for its special taste. And interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of rums "you need to try before you die." I recommend it, Caroni is really a unique rum.

This is really a beast... on the nose it screams Caroni and seems really complex, but in the mouth it's a potpourri of sweet burnt varnish with a bitter finish. Not for the faint-hearted, but also nothing I'd need a bottle of.
