Sipped neat, this Savanna agricole leans hard into its cognac cask: green apple, pear, grapes and honey up front, then a dry, tannic, slightly bitter woody core. Several tasters call it round and coherent but a touch flat — the cask and cognac notes swallow the cane, and the 52.3% alcohol isn't always fully knit in. Pleasant, just not the wildest Savanna.

02-09.04.2022 This was crazy week, where some friends and I rented a nice summerhouse on Rømø. The plan was to go nuts for a whole week with different rums without going overboard. The final agreement came to 6 rums a day and then enjoy nice walks or ferry rides during the day. Day 2 Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, light wood, roasted, citrus, sweet, light apple. Palate Round, fresh, raisin, light apple, light wood, light roasted, medium dry, faint tannins. Finish Medium long, round, wood, light tannins, citrus, light apple, faint honey. Extra note. Light and ABV pretty well integrated.

Together with DomM, a few Savanna were tasted today. Many thanks to Johannes for the samples. The biggest disappointments were the RX232 and the RX11264. My personal favorite was the RX9608. The RX11034 and RX11515 just managed to pass the 8-point mark.

Unfortunately, it tastes almost exclusively of cognac and also more like young VS cognac than XO cognac... I wouldn't blindly taste Savanna here, even if it is an Agricole. I find it pretty boring honestly and disappointing gesagt🤷🏼♂️

Nose is dominated by (green) apples, pear and candid fruits. I get more cognac associations rather than Armagnac tbh. Yet nice over all. On the palate also not bad, but a bit un-exciting. Again I‘m getting quite some cognac notes. Not bad, but definitely not the most exciting out of Savanna.

A pure Savanna cane juice rum that starts with a wild and agricultural nose, made up of cane and herbal notes that blend with the cognac cask, grape, and spices. While some aromas evoke sweetness (honey), the hay aroma gradually takes over. It's a complex profile but a bit overpowering if you don't like vegetal notes. The attack on the palate follows the nose's cues, with strong intensity on spices, dryness even tannic character, alcohol, and fruits, the latter being relatively discreet. There's bitterness on the hay and very present vegetal notes with aeration. The alcohol could have been better integrated. The finish is of decent length, nothing special but no big surprises. The hay and aromatic herbs have overcome the spices and wood, eclipsed like the fruits by this bitterness, tannins, and dryness brought by the cognac cask. A coherent and linear rum, but lacking a bit of extravagance.

Great Savanna tasting with Artur. A broad and rich nose with a slight fermentation, overripe yellow fruits. The first sip is vigorous with overripe apple, wood and a slight fermentation. But unfortunately, then the aromas drop. The finish is long because after the aromas drop they stabilize. A beautiful woody bitterness develops. You can feel the cognac cask.

Solid rum, but overall not expressive enough for me. I like it thanks to its well-rounded profile - but that's also where the criticism begins, because unfortunately I find the moments of tension and complexity a little lacking here - a "problem" that I often encounter with Savanna's Traditionelles. But this is also not my subjectively preferred rum style.

There is something really strange in the taste.. Wtf is that? Rumy z destilerie Savanna jsou jedny z mych nejoblibenejsich. Doporucuji kazdemu vyzkouset zejmena vuce esterove kousky jako je Grand arome nebo HERR. Tolik ovoce v nekolika malo kapkach tekutiny jste dlouho necitili.

Tasting a 3cl sample. Pretty spaced tears, liquid of a deep gold with pastel green reflections. 👃 First nose on the freshness and lively herbaceousness of sugarcane carried by frank spices. Being more a fan of Armagnac than Cognac, I find obvious similarities. It feels like an old Baco grape variety from the Le Sablé estate bottled by Encantada. A basket of orchard fruits (yellow peach, baking apple, a bit of pear, raisins) accompanied by grey pepper. With aeration, it becomes slightly pastry-like on a caramel cream. A bit of flower honey. Finally, a slight waxy note grounds this nose. 😋 A kind of elevator but not emotional... It rises slowly then there's a fleeting note of grape eau-de-vie expressing itself on barrel staves soaked with alcohol. It tastes like a still too young eau-de-vie of average quality... It's tannic and dry. The spices are quite lively, always peppery. Quite a bit of astringency brought by the cask. I find orchard fruits again, green apple, yellow peach and a bit of apricot with its pit. Maybe a herbaceous note of green mint, the agricultural aspect of the nose is toned down on the palate. ⛳ Medium length, quite warm, dry, astringent, a sensation of fruit pits, almost the beginning of rancidity of the nut. Bitterness of tannins. Not the Agricognac of the century, but it has the merit of existing. Consistency of aromas. Alcohol lacks integration. Lacks complexity and exuberance. To collect the series 😉
