02-09.04.2022 This was crazy week, where some friends and I rented a nice summerhouse on Rømø. The plan was to go nuts for a whole week with different rums without going overboard. The final agreement came to 6 rums a day and then enjoy nice walks or ferry rides during the day. Day 2 Notes Light in colour. Nose Intense, ester, light wood, fruity, light glue, overripe, pineapple. Palate Intense, warm, ester, medium dry, fruity, light orange, banana, balanced, faint smoke. Finish Very long and warm, ester, faint rubber, faint wood, faint chocolate. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while to release all its wonderful flavours. ABV pretty well integrated.

Vert good drop, ABV level is perfect en very well integrated. Also delicious as an addition in a daiquiri. 17/05/23: Compared to RX11282 At first it’s rougher around the edges and appears less balanced. More peppery from the alcohol. But after some time that fades away and becomes more part of the whole thing. Difficult to pick a favorite, but maybe this one with 0.1 point? 😅 Ah who cares I’ve enjoyed them both. This one needed more time in the glass, that’s all.

On the nose comes the full ester blast, as you would expect from a DOK. On the palate then quite balanced and a bit tamer. Quite astringent and dry on the palate.
Review by Jakob
Intensely aromatic. On the palate with pleasant sweetness, which must of course be understood in relation to the dominant fruit esters in a DOK. But again, not much else happens, which is to be suggested as a point of criticism. One of the better DOKs, but not the spearhead.
Review by Leo Krüper
Beautiful DOK with good alcohol integration. Ester not too dominant, but amazingly easy to drink. In the 2nd tasting again a slight upgrade, as he really thrilled me.

A Hampden DOK? Can't really believe it, it seems pretty tame, the classic Hampden markers are there...but too fleeting! This Hampden does not convince me

Au nez, l'explosion d'esters confirme que nous sommes en présence d'un DOK. On retrouve les marqueurs habituels des rhums Hampden. Impression confirmée en bouche, avec un alcool correctement intégré. Plutôt cool.

Extremely light for a DOK, an easy sipper that seems tamed down.

Exactly what I imagine a sun-bathed Jamaican barbecue would smell like - roasted, spicy and overly fruity, without going over the top into rotten territory. We start with banane flambée, pineapple chunks and mixed berries. Cooking and slowly thickening into a deep fruity sweetness. Subsequently the fructose gets slashed down by fresh lime juice and sharp nail polish remover. And at last the heart appears with violently roasted influences such as bacon, campfire, BBQ-spices and a hint of pimento, before dying in jasmine tea. More round and approachable in the mouth. Extremely fruity start with plantains, pineapple chunks, cantaloupe and applejuice. But honestly, there’s probably 15 more fruits in here. The roasted notes revealed during nosing are still present, but much less oppressive. It’s elegant, smoked with firewood, and serves crispy bacon and marshmallow-on-a-stick. The profile is also less medicinal than expected, rather bitter with a slight hard glue and aniseed touch. The taste persists for quite a bit, and is very comparable to the aftertaste of a large glass of pineapple juice. Very fruity chased by a woody undertone.

Nose: big glue comes straight to our nostrils! Exotic fruits, typical of Hampden, then confirm where we are... just in case we had any doubts. Pineapple, very ripe banana... complete this intense but not aggressive nose. Palate: This is clearly a Hampden, with its exotic fruits, strong glue and olives. The 56.1% are well integrated! The long finish is on smoky wood. This was my 1st pure old DOK and I was not disappointed!

Let this rum sit in the glass for a while before tasting. On the nose: Ester, glue and nail polish dominate the profile. Overripe pineapple and banana notes are there too. Vanilla notes. Little bit of woody notes. Quite mild on the intensity level for a DOK mark. Taste: Esters, overripe banana and pineapple upfront. Then you get little bit of smoky, fermented, dry, bitter notes with a little bit of pepper. Abv is integrated very well. Finish : Esters, overripe pineapple, glue, varnish. Little bit of tea notes at the end. Medium finish Nice barrel pick by The Whisky Jury once again. I really enjoyed sipping this sample.

Alkohol gut eingebunden.

Very nice DOK, but onedimensional over the whole line. Long finish. If you need a DOK on your shelf this is worth buying, because it's price quality. Still some bottles available.

03/05/25: tasted at a local spirits shop. Tasted this bottling for the second time, and I'm still a fan of it. It's not an in-your-face DOK though, but very enjoyable. I'm looking to buy a bottle to add to the cabinet!
