It's a 27-year Panama pot still at 51% — soft, oily and complex, but several tasters note the alcohol never fully settles in. Then a very pleasant Panama rum from Plantation. Lots of caramel and vanilla on the nose, some oak is also recognizable. On the palate also a light sweetness. Vanilla and caramel stand out again.

Tasted at my favorite bar in Copenhagen. The nose is rather fruity with some depth of orange and wood, though not as much as one would expect with this age. In the notes I found lemony fruits, cinnamon and vanilla

Reminds me blind of the Panama 1997 from Bellamy's Reserve. Bourbon whisky, vanilla, lots of caramel and dried fruit such as apricot and raisin, some cocoa and coconut... However, the alcohol is not ideally integrated both on the nose and in the taste, hence slight deductions. A slight sharpness and astringency lingers on the finish. This is the year I was born, so I had to try it!

Wooden, caramel, whiskey. From the nose to the taste and the finish. Complex, rich and and a great balanced flavour. Overall one of the best rums in my portfolio.

This bottling with a finish in Teeling Whisky cask is fun. Complex and balanced; the whisky nose doesn't bother me much as a non-whisky drinker. On the palate very round with some citrus fruit. Successful bottling. 👍

Relatively restrained on the nose, light notes of caramel, old cask/oak. On the palate, the rum is oily and mild with aromas of cask, caramel and allspice, the same in the finish! Overall an easily accessible rum without any highlights

Super smooth and kind rum. In spite of above 50% alcohol. This is a shortcoming at the same time. To me it needs some more character to take it higher. Vanilla, func, …., just something.

My RumRatings review from 6 years ago: The nose is initially a bit sharp and needs a few minutes. Then many cask notes come through: oak, smoke, some vanilla and more. The rum definitely needs time and to linger in the glass first. On the palate it’s clear the rum aged a long time. The tropical 25 years in bourbon cask bring many wood notes. The rum is wonderfully oily and creamy. There’s sweetness and a nice nutty spice. Smoke and some fruit bind the components and accompany the woody dry finish. The 51.1% are noticeable but well integrated. The finish is long-lasting with intense smoke, nut, and peppery oak notes. The rum is nicely full-bodied and has many intense cask notes presented dry. Here you actually get 27 years for under 100 euros. Tell that to your trusted whisky drinker. The whisky finish is very subtle and for me rather unnecessary on such an old rum. It would be nice if Plantation didn’t overdo the multi-cask aging.

Complex rum, not too sweet. For me, wood, caramel, and vanilla dominate. A bit sharp, the alcohol could be better integrated. Overall, very good stuff :D
