Worthy Park Select Jamaica Rum
One member calls it a "funky, light, mixing rum," and that's the honest read. The nose is the fun part — banana, pear, sour green apple, almost like fruity chewing gum — but the 40% ABV thins things out on the palate, where molasses, oak and a dry, nutty finish take over. Real Worthy Park DNA, just turned way down.
The community says- Fruity, funky nose
- But: Low ABV, thin palate
- But: Muted funk

How does Worthy Park Select Jamaica Rum taste?
Aggregated from 133 community reviews.
Light, fruity Jamaican, better in cocktails Most see a gentle, fruity Jamaican that's an easy entry to esters. The recurring gripe: 40% strips the funk, leaving the palate thinner than the gorgeous nose promises.

We're clearly on Jamaica's markers. Wow, it's good. It's sweet, a little honeyed.

Nothing that I personally need.... thin and somehow meaningless.

Overall an OK Jamaican rum but that lacks the expected funkiness, probably because of the low ABV. I tasted it at the 1423 stand during the Stockholm Beer & Spirits Fair 2023. This Jamaican rum is a blend of copper pot distilled molasses based rums that have been aged between 4 and 12 years in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels.

07.2024 First impression: wow, delicious Jamaica! Nose: very fruity and aromatic, esters, party Palate: now it gets serious and strong but still light, exciting contrast to the first impression Finish: short and crisp Overall impression: I really like it, a little light for straight sipping but okay, shows its strengths in fruity mixers: brings alcoholic strength, light esters and subtle spiciness. I have therefore increased my original rating from 7.0 to 7.3. The very small bottle in the photo was a gift on the tour of Worthy Park Distillery ... I couldn't resist the merchandising items (if you're ever in Lluidas Vale 😉) 02.2023 I bought the 200ml flask in Jamaica and found it great as an energizer for fruit juices

A well-crafted Worthy Park from the permanent range, with a smooth Jamaican rum DNA. The nose is very fruity (banana, pineapple, pear, very ripe exotic fruits) and has a reasonable dose of funk with the esters. Vanilla and cinnamon add some spice to this simple, clean and precise profile. The attack on the palate is soft and supple. Despite dilution, the funk has been preserved, with its fermentative and phenolic aromas and typical fruity notes (pineapple, banana, orange and pear). Certainly not the most complex of rums, but a good drinker. The finish is of decent length. It returns to spicy woodiness, with a few roasted notes intermingling with fruit and esters. A pleasant rum, accessible to neophytes both in terms of taste and price.

Vanilla and orange fruit, not bad but very young. To sum up, my tasting notes: Nose: Banana On the palate: Tropical fruit, orange. I'm raising the note a little because it's not bad.

Entfaltet sein volles Potenzial für uns eindeutig in den Cocktails.

The taste is actually not bad, but the alcohol is not well integrated despite the dilution.

Tasted for the principle. It's not (by far) the best this distillery has to offer. But perhaps it can be a gateway to Jamaican esters without the extreme side. Not convinced.
Review by Rumpalumpa
Pretty unspectacular rum. Neither an interesting distillate, for example with strong esters, nor a maturation that would add another level. A few fruity esters are already present, of course.

Sharper body. One round at the end. Pitelnoat rather worse.

A super fruity nose. Banana and pear mainly. Tropical papaya and sour green apple follow. Reminds me of a fruity chewing gum. The palate is a little thinner than the nose would suggest and less fruit forward. Approachable, a touch sweet. Notes of molasses and oak. The finish is medium in length and surprisingly dry. Lots of barrel notes and roast nuts. Overall, the nose is the best part of the experience. I feel the low ABV has stripped most of the lush fruits from the nose out of the palate. A shame. Not bad. Could have been better.

Sample no.3 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2022. I have hears and read about the ”funky” style of Jamaican rum and this is my first tasting of one. Very complex and hard to distinguish the aromas but I think I find pear and maybe apple. The funky must be the harsh and sharp smell almost like a solvent or pint thinner. Palate is way better than the nose. Pineapple at first but more towards pear and apple later on. Very different taste for a rum but not in a bad way. This makes me want to explore more funky rums.

Overall a nice subtle jamaican rum. Moderate sweetness, in the 👃 it is typical worthy park with even hints of malt but 👅 is milder, oily, more cultivated showing tones of 🍫, vanilla, oak, malt and slight spiciness of black pepper. Very nicely balanced soft jamaican rum with medium long finish.

Except for an ester smell, little tasty flavors for me.

Dofter av apelsin, trä och lite vanilj. Smaken är lite mer nedtonad. Fruktig ,trä, ester och alkohol. Alkoholen stör inte utan passar in bra.
Review by MJ72
Fruit and some wood in the aroma, fruity taste, apples/pears with a woody base note that extends into the mild finish.

Nič extra; tropické ovocie, hruška a estery.
