Raisin, walnut and thick brown sugar lead here, with coffee and dark chocolate underneath — this 20-year Foursquare has clearly been married with a lot of sherry. Several tasters say it reads "eher Sherry als Rum" (more sherry than rum), rich and sticky-sweet. Blind, one member would have guessed an old sherry and been surprised by the strength. Lovely as a dessert pour if you like sweet.

In my opinion, the combination of Sherry and Foursquare is completely successful! A non-intrusive sweetness blends with the power of Foursquare, which is very enjoyable.

Tastes more like a really tasty strong sherry than rum. Nice idea to simply blend a 19y old Foursquare with good old sherry and sweeten it accordingly, but basically I would have preferred to try such an old Foursquare without blending and finishing. It's delicious but for me it doesn't have much to do with rum anymore tun🤷🏼♂️ but it's an expressive sipper that is more on the sweet side and certainly works great with a cigar or as a digestif!

#4703 20.04.2024 Relaxing at home after a long stressful week at work. Nose Fresh, lightly sweet, fruity, faint chocolate, plum, light pineapple. Palate Oily, round, wood, sweet, light pineapple, plum, faint roasted, light chocolate, light sherry, faint coffee. Finish Medium long, light wood, sweet, plum, light cherry, faint chocolate, faint caramel. Draws really nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some light herbs, faint coconut and stronger caramel. Price to quality is pretty good in my mind.

For me one of the best rums I've tasted so far. The color, the scent, the first sip on the palate - for me a masterpiece. Round, complex, not too sweet. How I wish I had more than one bottle...

Sweet rum mash with a splash of sherry. Tasty but not exactly what you expect from a rum. A younger rum would probably have done the job just as well.

A top act of courage. On the nose you get coffee, dark chocolate and a certain roastiness. Smells very good. On the palate then chocolate, dark sugar and various spices. Very tasty rum anyway.

I really like the nose. Reminds me of good sherry and dessert. On the palate, for me personally, it's too sweet and "sticky." More sherry than rum. But really tasty as a dessert.

Sugar bomb here you are. Actually one of the better sugar bombs with fruity notes, chocolate and roasted aromas. No artificially prominent flavors. Could really be great with higher ABV and less sugar.

Very sherry-heavy, lots of walnut and typical sherry fruit aromas, but also the typical Maggi note that some old sherries and port wines have and that I really appreciate. A few drops of water make the rum a bit more accessible in my eyes and take away the heaviness. Not much of the actual rum remains, the long aging maybe shows in the very rounded taste and well-integrated alcohol.

Read full review ›With the Wagemut PX Cask Special Edition, Nicolas Kröger brings an extremely unusual bottling to the market, one I definitely wouldn't have expected from him and which, for me, is incomparable to any product I know. In a blind tasting, I would guess an extremely long-aged sherry and be surprised by the alcohol content. The pronounced sweetness will of course deter rum purists, but I like that kind of thing sometimes. A bit of a shame in the end, though, that you can't taste the rum's special characteristics. At least I can't. On the other hand, this also shows how perfectly the rum and the sherry have come together in the cask. But of course, I would have been insanely curious how the 19-year-old Foursquare tastes.
