El Ron del Artesano Panama Rum Peated-Cask-Finish
Peated-whisky fans are the real audience here — this Panama column-still rum spent time in a peated cask and it shows. Expect vanilla and oak up front, then a wave of smoke, black pepper and ginger that runs warm and spicy at 57.8%. One taster flat-out called it "less a rum than a whisky." Divisive by design: love peat and you'll grin, avoid it and this isn't your bottle.

- Keep in mind: Polarizing peat

How does El Ron del Artesano Panama Rum Peated-Cask-Finish taste?
From community reviews · summarized with AI
Smoky peated-cask rum for whisky drinkers Opinions split hard along one line: peat lovers rate it high, peat-avoiders bounce off completely. Most agree the cask is obvious but doesn't fully bury the rum underneath.

I think this is one that you either like or not. The influence of the cask is very obvious but without dominating the rum overall. I think whisky lovers might like this rum actually because of the cask that was used. I like smoke/peat as long as its not overpowering the other flavours.

Tasted 26-05-2020 For my pallette this was certainly not one , although the presenter have me a journey through Germany and exploring anacestory. I do not drink peated whisky so this was never going to do well in tasting notes .. imagine Christmas pudding then bam the whiskey hits ...

Aquavitae Mülheim October 2025. We are slowly reaching our limits :) This rum is definitely very roasty, tastes slightly sweet but is okay. Some vanilla, wood and smoke are also recognizable here.

I can't really do anything with the whisky finish. However, I can at least taste the quality and idea behind it.

Tried at the 11th GRF. It convinced me. Tremendous power and smoke. More for lovers of smoky whiskies.

Color: Gold Smell: Light and fresh with vanilla, caramel and oak. Taste: Spicy sharp in the mouth with vanilla and peaty whisky. When swallowing, the peaty whisky is also clear. Spicy-sharp, peppery and ginger with oak. Finish: Medium length Dry, oak, peppery, ginger Conclusion: Less a rum than a whisky
