This is rum inffused with smoked paprika ("Pimentón de la Vera"), and it dominates completything. smoke, cigar ash, sweet red pepper and a real chili burn on the palate. Several members warwarned, almost nothing of the underlying Panama Column rum survives — the smoke. Fans call it a smoked spiced experiment worth a try; purists mostly find the paprika and campfire too much. One reviewer sums it up: it barely tastes of rum.

The infusion with smoked paprika "Pimienton de la Vera" is strongly noticeable. Intense paprika/chili notes, grilled bacon, chutney, as well as slightly smoky whisky notes. Personally, I hoped for it to be fruitier with chili and paprika and less smoky, but since it's paprika smoked over oak wood, this smokiness is very pronounced... When you spread it properly in the mouth, the spiciness spreads pleasantly, but could almost be more intense... The finish is way too short for an infusion with such intensity. Solid experiment but not quite as successful as I hoped, I can do better myself...🤷🏼♂️ For me one of the weakest from the Boulet series.

I just can't stop trying the Boulet de Canons... I find the basic ideas themselves exciting, even though I'm usually a rum purist, but apart from number 7, I haven't found any really good ones yet. Usually, not much of the rum remains and regardless of the actual direction, I only taste smoke in all of them. Maybe something for fans of smoky whisky, but I can't do anything with it. Still, you have to stay curious (and number 12 is surely coming...)!

Tastes like all sorts of things, especially smoke, but not necessarily like rum. However, that doesn't mean the rum fails, no, for my senses it's a successful experiment that calls for a repeat - unlike the Jubilee Ball No. 10. Conclusion: Those who dare to be surprised will be well served with No. 11.

It doesn't taste like rum, but more like whiskey. With its smoked paprika nose and sweet paprika taste, it will please whiskey lovers more. Next time I'll taste it at a barbecue, it should be nice. A bold bet but you have to like somewhat special tastes.

With the Boulet, you know it's going to be intense. In that sense, this one doesn't disappoint. On the nose, intensely smoky and extremely like old cigar ash or an old cigar box. Plus a slightly sweet paprika powder with pepper. Fresh pimentos at the end. On the palate, just intense green pepper, chili, smoke, and old cigar. Really sharp. Nothing of the original rum is left to taste. Certainly quite interesting, but I don't really need that.

Reminds me of an Origin R. bottling... Barbados FS in an Islay cask. Ok, but you have to be in the mood for it.
