Romdeluxe Barbancourt Collectors Series No. 5 BMHC 2004
One taster called the price-to-quality "very good," and that fits: a 17-year Haitian Barbancourt from cane juice at full 60%, yet the alcohol sits remarkably well integrated. Expect vanilla, caramel and red fruit on the nose, then a drier, herbal, lightly vegetal palate with licorice and oak. A few find the mouth more bitter and metallic than the lovely nose promised.

- Fruity, spiced nose

Aggregated from 40 community reviews.
Dry, herbal aged Barbancourt at hidden 60% Most enjoy this aged agricole-style Barbancourt: balanced, fruity nose, well-hidden 60%. The common gripe is that the palate turns drier and more bitter than the nose, and the finish runs a touch short.

A nice rum with a long lightly dry finish. Lightly fruity with spices and lovely oak, caramel and chocolate. Very light vegetal and licorice notes in there as well. Price to quality is very good in my mind.
Review by Alexander Rasch
Quite interesting, especially in the nose beautiful fruit aromas with light herbs. Reminiscent of herbal sweets from the Christmas market. More spice and herbs on the palate. Accompanied by a sugary spiciness the whole time. Beautifully balanced.

Farba zlato žltá, kvapky pomaly stekajú na stene, vôna mandle sušené ovocie mango, ananas, chuť dominuje tropicke ovocie mango, ananás sladkosť, mierna horkosť, mandle drevnatosť, v úvode náznak trávovitosti, stredne dlhý ovocný záver. Vôbec by som nepovedal že má 60% dobre integrovaný alkohol
Review by Jordan Signor
Quite promising on the nose, loads of red fruits, grenadine syrup, some buttery notes, tropical fruits and a fainting earthy note. Slightly deceived by the mouth and finish, more driven by menthol, vanilla and wood than the nose. Eventually though, round and rich, but not long enough.

A beautiful, old Barbancourt with 60%. Let's see. Nose: fine aromas, not pungent. Sweetish-spicy and slightly floral. Sugar syrup and caramel give a pleasant sweetness, raisin and bergamot with some lime and gooseberry the fruitiness. I also find vanilla and something that reminds me of candle wax. Quite pleasing. 8,0 Palate: here rather strong and spicy-woody with less fruit. Initially bitter and salty with nutmeg and caraway, then metallic with lemon zest and a hint of gooseberry. Very dry overall. Herbs and gooseberry or something similar on the finish. 7,8 Interesting overall, but not round and too bitter on the palate.

I don't find the alcohol well integrated, somewhat pungent. Long finish, which is also very alcoholic. The middle section is good, but seems very young, could do with longer storage.
