Very high quality, but it does not come (without direct comparison) to the other REVs. It lacks something the beautiful dried fruit, it dominates rather bitter notes.

An REV is always something beautiful. Especially when it's so beautifully old. 27 years, even if it's "only" continental, that's quite something. Nose: intense and full-bodied. Spicy and woody with a strong note of pencil shavings and molasses. Bitter orange with a dash of lemon meets cedar wood with nutmeg, caraway and lovage. Then dark caramel and molasses again. You can't get enough of this. 9,0 Palate: wow, intense, powerful and at the same time full-bodied and round. Woody and spicy, with lots of molasses and treacle. Dried bitter orange with dried fig meet violet licorice. Oh yes, lots of violets! Behind that, slightly bacony tonka bean with nutmeg and caraway and slightly burnt aromas. I like it all very much.9.0

Quite nice release, on a bitter side. On the nose starts off with a coffee, then dried fruit, leather, Guyanese wood. Pallette add a medicinal dimension. Looking forward to trying RA one next. Thank you Dr Django for sharing the sample.

Very delicious, balanced rum. The wood and alcohol is integrated well. It‘s more on the fruity side in comparsion to other REV. Pleasant to drink. I think this one is watered down🤔Nose: Fruity, dried fruits, plum, prunes, alcohol, woody, oak, roated, leather, spicy, pastriesMouth: Alcohol, dry, delicious, full bodied, complex, balanced, sharpness, dried fruits, plum, prunes, leather, oak, licorice, spicy, vanilla, roasted, black tea, burnt sugarFinish: long with tastes of oak(barrel), chocolate, vanilla, black tea

Super Nase nach Leder, Schokolade, Honig und Kaffee. Geschmacklich viel Honig, dunkle Schokolade, Vanille und Leder. Tolles Geschmackserlebnis. Großartiger Guyaner.

The nose is complex. The dried fruits are at the head of the pack. The whole is completed by a nice dose of woody-spicy which makes this olfactory bouquet more than interesting. In the mouth, there is some pep but the alcohol is perfectly integrated. It's less fruity than the nose, but it's quite greedy thanks to the caramel and prune notes. Some oak pushes from the shoulders into the pack and the tobacco gets a little acceleration. It's full-bodied, complex and very pleasant on the palate. The finish is nice, warm and dry on chocolate/tea. The conclusion is simple, a very good continental Demerera! This allows us to finish this tasting more than in beauty (except bonus)! Well done Alain, when will we see a new selection?

I really like the taste of this rum. What I like is that it stands out somewhat in the otherwise very similar-looking mass of REV bottlings, which are all of the same high standard. The alcohol is a little rougher and otherwise not perfect either, but this gives it character where otherwise smoothness is predominant. The finish suits me the least.

A very fine, elegant REV
Review by Mirco
In direct comparison, it falls well below other REV Top bottlings. Nevertheless, a very nice bottle of rum, which knows how to create complex and balanced notes. Wood, fruit, spice and alcohol are well balanced.

On the nose, still with a rather mild, well-tared impression of the REV profile from 1994, the tart notes come to the fore on the palate. Tart spice, slight bitterness from the barrel as well as recognizable toasty aromas add some character to this drop, but somewhat to the detriment of balance. Nothing is woody or even over-aged here yet, though the age is more noticeable than in other releases - which is somewhat surprising given the manageable alcohol content. Overall at the lower end of the 1994 REV spectrum, which still means we're dealing with a very good release. That also speaks for itself.

This is a retasting with the RumX guys and I stick to my score. ------ It was nice to try this rum again and I was confirmed in my former score. A nice Versailles with dried fruit, leather and roasted wood. Nice and dry on the palate without it being too much. Like the tannins released on the finish.

Intense woodiness emanates from this juice. Leathery. An earthiness. Heavy. Well stuck to the ground. The impression is confirmed on the palate, with omnipresent but very pleasant wood. Oak, leather again, spice on the finish. Hints of chocolate and prunes for sweetness. I think we're on the verge of wood juice finally bottled at the right moment. Long, reassuring, chocolatey, coffee finish. And that ever-present woodiness. I wouldn't drink it every day. But I'm glad I got to try it!

Im 4er Tasting gegen VM, RA und Rumclub als mein Favorit rausgegangen. Wirkt jünger als die anderen und verspielter. Schokolade, Tabak und Leder, aber auch kräutriger Waldspaziergang im Regen. Leichte Bitternoten.

REV-1994-Tasting on 12.10.2024 Here's my ranking (nose and palate impressions each accounted for 50% of the overall rating, in the event of a tie the length of the finish was decisive, as was the case with ranks 1-3, which were incredibly close together): 1ST RX12425 2ND RX121 3. RX11107 4. RX21851 5. RX12203 6. 11402 For me this is the most unspectacular REV 1994 so far. Attention, daily form should not be underestimated!
