Prunes, coffee and old leather up front, then the barrel takes over — 33 years in wood shows, and that's the whole point. Dark, rich and full despite the modest ABV, with licorice, molasses and a long, dry, tannic finish. Most tasters call it beautifully balanced with the alcohol tucked right in; the wood leans bitter, which a few flag as its one limit.

Classic profile of the 1988 Enmores, heavy dark fruits meet wood, leather and spice. Holds its own in direct comparison with other releases of the vintage very successfully, only the last tick of intensity is missing something for me.

Very good drop. Super overall combination, the volume does not miss anything. It has a nice balance that is versatile both on the nose and in the mouth. Very tasty to drink.

9:On the nose, prunes, dried figs and banana, roasted wood notes like caramel, nuts, coffee, leather, spicy with anise, dark molasses with licorice, thick, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, raisins, citrus and yellow fruits arise, molasses is candied, dark with black tea, flowery, pastry, vanilla join, metallic patina, complex, balanced. 8,9:On the palate, the attack is fruity with prunes, dried apricots, raisins, dried dates, citrus and red fruits, concentrated, the wood is roasted with caramel, leather, coffee, fruitcake, slightly burnt, spicy with anise, baking spices/allspice, as molasses is dark with licorice, earthy, flowery, herbaceous, vegetal with eucalyptus, slightly bitter.Barrel impact is obvious. 9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with charred/roasted oak notes like coffee, dark chocolate, nuts, leather, spicy with allspice, peppery, meaty, smoky, molasses is dark with licorice, earthy with cigar tobacco and fruits are dried like prunes, apricots, raisins, citrus fruits and banana. I like better than the Nobilis and even a little better than the Rum Cask. On the nose dried fruit (raisin,fig), leather, spices and caramel. The barrel impact is not too dominant for the 33 years that the rum has on the hump. Dates, leather, licorice and coffee on the palate. As with the other two 88 Enmores, the ABV is rather low, but the intense flavors here compensate for that extremely well.

A very well balanced and complex rum where the ABV is perfectly integrated. The barrel is most present on the palate and the fruits are really nice and go well with the licorice and coffee. I really like the light floral/herbal touch in there.

Wonderfully balanced 88 Enmore. Spices, roasted aromas, dried dark fruits. Light sweetness, but nicely softened with licorice and a bit of pencil. For 92/93 points a few more percent ABV are missing, but overall really successful and clearly above the TRC Enmore 88 as a similar comparison.

A good Enmore on the bitter woody side! Either you like it or hate it! Actually zuvieL Fasseinschlag is not so mine, but in this case it still fits and it harmonizes with the dried fruits, coffee and leather! Nothing for every evening ... but very enjoyable!

Just the sight of the reddish-brown rum in the glass raises expectations. The nose starts phenomenally: candied dried fruits, roasted aromas, wood and spice are wonderfully balanced. This continues on the palate but with more emphasis on the cask aromas and salty licorice joins in. The aftertaste is very long and shifts again towards cask and tannins. This rum cannot hide that it spent 32 years in the cask. All the more beautiful that the typical Enmore profile is clearly recognizable. A rum for a whole evening!

Very nice selection. The Enmore on the dark side of the force 😁 That's also its weak point for me. The barrel ended up marking this rum too much. I think I would have preferred it a few years younger. But this is purely personal taste.

Last of the sample. Very well balanced and the alcohol is incorporated very well. Nuts, spices and wood. Maybe misses a bit of a punch for palate lately, but nonetheless quite good.

Crazy Enmore essence. Unbelievably dense - heavy and concentrated. On the nose, typical markers of dried plum, licorice, dark molasses, and strong mocha, as well as dried fig. On the palate, first a broad hit of pencil shavings and a lot of cask influence - but also a fine light note of blackcurrants, some blackberry, and bittersweet licorice, as well as black tea with bitter orange peel. Very tasty and round - though not 100% my favorite Enmore profile - it's a bit too bitter for me. But of the 1988 vintages I've tried so far, this one definitely plays in the top league, I'd say.

Tasted @ Salon du Rhum 2024 with Stijn. I love these old, dark Enmores so much! Such a warm, complex, woody, druid fruits profile. This is the style of rum I like. Nicely balanced and the ABV is perfectly integrated.

Winner tonight, love the heavy/dark notes that wave from nose to finish. Dark fruits, leather, tobacco, mushrooms, roasted sugar. Very intense and yet well integrated with a long finish.

Typical old Enmore I guess. Dried fruit, coffee, molases, leather, old wood, hints of cola, licorice. Little bit burned and bitter. Yum! This one comes with very pleasant low abv and still keeps its darkness, richness, fullness. 9 club for sure!

🔥 This Friday, back to a high-flying masterclass dedicated to The Whisky Jury (TWJ) at buddy Pascal's place 🍻 For those who don't know yet 👉 The Whisky Jury is the Belgian independent bottler founded in 2019 by Joeri Van den Broeck (yes, “Jury” = pun with Joeri 😉). In a few years, TWJ has established itself as a reference: limited editions, single casks, total transparency and above all... priority to the expression of the cask rather than marketing. Whisky at the base, but also some gems in rum 👀 🙏 Thanks to Jef for making the trip and presenting us the 2026 novelties in preview. But before starting with the novelties... we started with something VERY heavy. 🥃 TWJ Enmore 1988 – 48.9% Yes, we start directly without warming up. A real Enmore, distilled before the distillery closed in 1995. Molasses, vintage 1988, distilled on the mythical wooden Versailles still (unique single pot still in the world). 🕰️ Almost 33 years of aging before bottling at 48.9%. Let's say it has seen many seasons... and some angels 😇 👀 Color: dark brown / deep mahogany. Logical after so many years (and a generous Guyanese saucing). 👃 Nose: Fruity and fresh at first (raisins), then it thickens with aeration: roasting, leather, noble wood... A nose that grabs you right away. 👅 Palate: Creamy. Less fruity than the nose, more woody, more fatty. Dark chocolate, burnt caramel... it coats well. 🔥 Finish: Long, burnt wood and spices. It stays. Honestly? Very beautiful opening rum. No false notes. Classy, structured, refined. Even if I'm not the biggest fan of Versailles... this one is really well mastered. 💥 We started STRONG.
