Vertical PM tasting: 89 / 95 /97 / 97 (cognac finish) / 02 / 05 / 13 Very nice. Predominantly leaning towards darker / woody / roasted notes. The cognac cask is quite noticeable adding grapes and a certain elegance to the rum. Interesting and noticeable different in the best sense.

RumX Advent Calendar Day 4 Nose ... Pungent , acetone and esters something slightly floral . Young toasted wood . Tangerines, honey and some papaya. Palate Alcohol clearly noticeable. Some esters, bitter notes and pepper. Fruitiness in the mouth almost gone ... Very alcoholic. Not my cup of tea at all. After 1h in the glass a little more fruit but the alcohol is and remains not well integrated. The finish is also rather bitter.

Rum-X Calendar 2024 Day 4 This one isn’t easy today! On the nose, I get Worthy Park and T.D.L 🤪 With more time in the glass, the WP-typical banana note takes over. On the palate, it’s completely different again. I can’t place it. Lots of tannins and barrel influence, with a slight sourness. Long finish with lots of wood. No idea what this is, maybe Guyana, Port Mourant? I quite like the intensity but the profile isn’t really my thing.

Edit: Day 4 RumX Calendar 2024 Totally guessed Clarendon 🤦♂️ Totally off the mark. Blindly, I would have given it another 8.4 despite a wrong guess So everything stayed the same Today three Uitvlugt from 1997 24yr (RX11475), 1998 22yr (RX8122) and 1999 14yr (RX6548) in parallel in the glass. In contrast to its competitors, the Duchess has a beautiful dark color, while the others are very pale. In terms of taste, the Tamosi is just ahead of the Duchess. Unfortunately, the Kill Devil cannot quite keep up with its competitors.

RumX Advent Calendar, day 4. A powerful nose with old varnished wood and fruits, dried fruits and stewed fruits with a fresh tropical fruit side that can remind you of Jamaica. The palate has a nice attack, the varnished wood and fruits gain in intensity. Then, instead of becoming more complex, the aromas retreat towards a finish mainly marked by wood and bitterness. A beautiful nose here, but the palate doesn't confirm all the promises and the finish is too one-sided on bitter wood.

In the nose still very fruity, one notices his age on the palate but clearly! The barrel impact can not be denied, but the fruit notes and some long drawn black tea with a mix of espresso are also added! The alcohol is perceptible, but still goes.On the palate, the dark woody side predominates!Overall a good solid PM

Smoky, somewhat alcoholic Uitvlugt. Virtually nothing on the nose. Then a short dose of herbs that immediately turns smoky. Not my kind of rum.

RumX Calendar 2024 Day 4: Restrained nose with dried fruit, earth, mushrooms. Otherwise quite closed. First tip from old PM, probably stored on the continent. Impressions continue in the mouth, but become significantly more intense. Alcohol is present and initially nicely balanced, but takes over towards the end and becomes uneven. However, it improves with a little time. More fruit and less alcohol. I'll stick with the continental PM.

This rum has a very nice and intense nose that carries onto the palate. The balance overall is very good and I love the smoky wood flavours as well as the cognac notes. Price to quality is very good.

RumX Advent calendar day 4. Now finally catching up on 2 reviews. This one has a nice nose, mostly consisting of tobacco and herbs, also very spicy. On the palate wood comes in. I find the alcohol very well integrated.

I'm not the biggest Guyana fan, but I quite like the 1997 Uitvlugt vintage in the glass. Especially the bottling from The Rum Cask. The Duchess bottling brings, due to the Cognac cask, a fruity and woodier component to the profile. For me it harmonized quite well.

My blind guess here is a 2007 worthy Park. Alcohol is rather semi well integrated, lots of burnt barrel notes, rather herbal and the nutmeg note that always reminds me of worthy park... Rather not the case. Once you know it, you can taste the typical very intense pencil note and the mineral, herbal tones. Still not for me! 😅

On the nose: Strong woody, tobacco and herbal notes. After sitting in the glass the cognac cask influence take the palace with more apple and fruity notes. Taste: Soft mouthfeel. Woody and notes from cognac cask. Tobacco notes at the back. Mouthfeel chances to little bit oily with back tea notes. Spices like nutmeg and cardamom. Little bit of cacao notes. Finish: Dry and roasted finish with woody cognac notes. Little bit of red grapes. Some dark coffee notes in the palate aswell. After a few sips i started to like amd understand these woody, cognac notes mixed with some darker notes that this rum offers in the taste and in the finish. Maybe something to sip during wintertime.

Aged 2 years tropical, the rest continental, in a 1975 Hine Cognac barrel, which I already find very charming 😉 The Cognac barrel influence is also very present on the nose: lots of wood, grape and tobacco. Spicy on the palate, tobacco again, a nice sweetness in the background. The finish toasty / nutty.

Tasted as a 5cl sample. Wonderful smell of raisin/dried plum, oak, tobacco, caramel and spices. This one smells really good. Taste is similar, with a nice hint of marzipan and burnt sugar. There are also grapes, wood and spices. The alcohol could be a little milder, but that's complaining on a high level. The rum is really delicious and exciting.

Day 4 of the RumX Advent calendar: Among the fruit aromas, especially in the smell, surprisingly much banana predominates. Along with the woody aspects, waxy beeswax and the fine spice-herb mix, it creates an exceptionally harmonious overall picture. A very good Port Mourant that gains more complexity with standing time.

I like it very much. Especially the finish is really great and lingers long on the palate. The Cognac cask is well integrated. The rum is nicely smoky and slightly charred. The body is balanced and creamy. The rum shows fine notes of dried fruits but also grape. Great.

👃 fairly dry and soft profile. Lots of fruit, on a candied, buttery, caramelized and stewed side; star anise, baked apple, pear, dried fruit, carambola, cinnamon apple, raisins. Classic note of blond tobacco, cooking spices, oak from Cognac barrel. 😋 Quite driven by Cognac alcohol and paradoxically quite soft, sweet and candied. Dried and candied fruits, raisins soaked in eau-de-vie, quite herbal side on black tea and dried fruit infusion, dried tobacco, cooked vanilla, soft caramel, orchard fruit pits, cooking spices, woodier than on the nose. ⛳ Long, warm, dry, tannic, gentle astringency. It feels like having the taste of a piece of wood soaked with caramelized dried fruits, licorice, strong espresso, cocoa on the tongue. This finish is pleasant and is one of the highlights of the tasting. 💡 The Cognac barrel is undeniable. A continental Eye-Flute defined above all by spicy wood, fruity and candied sweetness. The kind of easy sipper dram I enjoy from time to time but not enough to buy a bottle.

The cognac barrel makes itself immediately noticeable here with lots of grape. In the nose with a lot of spice, then woodier on the palate, but really smooth, What can I say, I just like it 👍😋 Only the finish is then but a bit dry, but that is simply to be expected with the very mature cognac barrel. Great bottling - with that certain something.

The 97 PM are certainly not everyone's cup of tea. They are rather "wild" and tolerate a long storage. This one already has a proud age and yet still seems rather young. Lots of yellow fruit, also wood and anise. I find him very successful!

RumX Advent calendar 2024: No. 4 Today very hard to guess. Very intense nose of spices and dried fruits. Very strong in taste, a bit biting on the first sip. Probably has a higher alcohol content. Not a bad rum, but rather not for me.

RumX Advent calendar door 4: On the nose super diverse and fruity. On the palate appears wood and a bit of dirty funk. Maybe a bit musty. Definitely very intense. In the long finish, the woody and dirty taste remains.

Day 4 RumX Advent calendar I would have almost guessed Fiji or Jamaica here. Nice herbal profile with plenty of wood. Alongside runs a little honey/tropical fruit as well as dried fruit. For me a tasty rum, great easy sipper. But actually also not quite my profile, the herbs and wood dominate for me quite strongly.

RumX Advent Calendar 4. Nose quite simple. The palate is more structured: it starts with fruity esters then moves to a woody chocolatey note with a nice length. Tasted blind: I would have said a Clarendon with a fairly low ester level but quite old and an alcohol between 55 and 60° (which could be better integrated...).

Advent calendar #4. Definitely Jamaica. I'm torn between Clarendon and Long Pond. Tropical fruits, but also meaty. Would say Long Pond. So far the best rum in the calendar for me.

On the nose, it smells like encaustic, the memories of the oak floors we used to wax at our grandparents'. Notes of almonds, dried apricot and tobacco appear as the airing goes on, then white grape with sweet touches. On the palate, the dried apricot is lighter, we feel a toasted taste, a bit of woody taste as well, and the white grape a stealthy passage of liquorice. The final will be on the perfectly integrated cognac which has found its place.

Rumy-X advent calendar Oliver Gerhart 2024 Day 4 Here the cognac is especially really intensely expressed in the taste. The nose is pleasant, but in the taste surprised by a sweet wave after a second or two which I again attribute to the cognac in the finish.

RumX Advent 2024-4. It needs a while in the glass. Glue, fruit somewhere behind, also lots of spice, wood and vanilla. Very similar in the mouth to the nose. Alcohol quite noticeable for me, at least today. Nice spicy woody finish.

I expect this to be a Fijian rum. There is an ointment and gluey note that clearly I recall as a Fijian note. Esters, rotting fruit but also an overall noticeable sweetness especially when drinking makes this Fiji better than usual Fijians

A true explosion on the palate. Deliciously full, fruity flavors with Jamaican influences. The flavors begin with notes of nuts and wood, transitioning nicely to tropical fruits with a lingering finish.

Beautiful nose, good interplay of fruit and spice, plus herbal aromas and tobacco. The cognac cask is clearly perceptible. Very alcoholic on the palate, the dark aromas predominate, lots of wood, roasted, black tea and tobacco. A little grape still comes through. Good intense rum, for me too many wood and roasted aromas on the palate. Alcohol could be better integrated.

Blind tasting Advent calendar 2024: nice nose. Roasted raisins with cloves, I would say. The taste is relatively restrained. Not the complex depth I had hoped for. However, also metallic and floral. Finish rather medium length.
