This 2001 Skeldon from Tamosi is dark and spice-tinged, with an unusual thread of orange peel, mint and menthol several tasters picked up. One member called it "easy drinking, quite wood and natural sweetness driven." A rich, balanced Demerara sipper that needs time in the glass.

8,8:On the nose, burnt, roasted wood notes, dark like burnt sugar, Demerara Sugar, coffee, leather, caramel, spicy with anise, citrus fruits, dark molasses, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses brings black tea, licoruce, sherry barrel impact is strong with dried apricots, prunes, raisins, cherry, various tones like chocolate, vanilla, very enticing. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is rather balanced with roasted wood notes like coffee, chocolate, burnt sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, caramel, smoky and spicy, malty, fruits like raisins, dried apricots, dates, prunes, citrus fruits and berries, as the molasses is slightly flowery, minty. 8,7:The finish is long, dry, sherry barrel impact is strong with dried fruits, various roasted notes like leather, coffee, caramelized Demerara sugar, pastry, biscuits, the molasses is thick with licorice, earthy with tobacco, hints of menthol, metallic patina are present. A dark Skeldon on burnt sugar, caramel, lots of coffee and dried fruits. It's the kind of Guyana rum profile I moderately like (licorice, prunes). Still, it's a nice bottle.

Yeah, way better than that weird Rügen Rum. A really dark Tum. You can clearly taste coffee here, also chocolate and caramel, as well as mocha and a bit of wood.

This is a very rare bottle and the price went up pretty quickly after the initial release. That said it's a really good Skeldon. The darkness is there combined with fruit and wood. The balance between the individual flavours is really good and the wood is not dominating.

The spicy Skeldon! Dark, licorice, burnt sugar, Maggi, barrel, chocolate, herbs and a bit of raisin. Could also be a Port Mourant. Not necessarily what I expect and appreciate from a Skeldon. Still good.

Delicious Skeldon here from Tamosi. Here the typical caramel, malt, dried fruit and chocolate aroma come to the fore together with a rather unusual but fitting aroma of orange peel and lime peel, as well as some menthol and mint. The alcohol is well integrated and generally very balanced. Delicious!

Nice bottling with a great, balanced overall combo. Classic markers, wonderful mouthfeel, lots of molasses syrup and plenty of umami as well as some sweetness. Like most, it needs plenty of time to unfold. In the Skeldon tasting, in the upper mid-field.

On the nose: I get demerera sugar. Hints of vanilla and anis. Its slightly on the sweeter side, but there is woodyness in there. Taste: Wow, first sip was a delight. Very warm and balanced mouthfeel. Primarely i get raisin, chocolate, coffee and dried fruits in a very good palate. Alcohol is integrated perfectly Finish: medium-long finish. Woody, coffee, menthol, dried fruits. Chocolate. Wow, this was an excellent sipper. Long aged and still delivered such a rich palate. This rum goes to my top 5 list for sure.

Smells of coconut and dates. Some vanilla. In the mouth there's a lot of heat. Some bitter cough medicine, bark. A little plum and raspberry. Pours dark mahogany. Bittersweet finish, spice hangs for a while on the tip of your tongue. I think this is my first Skeldon, and not sure I like this as much as Versailles or Port Mourant. Bottle split by xamsx.

A subtle and classic nose - caramel, wood, and rasin. Mouth is dry and more classic Demerara, with mint and menthol alongside the more classic raisin and chocolate notes. It’s not quite as well balanced and deep or layered as some of the other Skeldon’s I have tried but a solid example of the mark. The finish is fresh and vibrant, menthol and peppermint alongside saddle and leather with a sweet brown sugar end. More mint than expected and lacking some integration to really elevate it but a super solid rum

Intense caramel, raisins and chocolate on the nose. In the taste it is then a very nicely balanced combination of these flavours complemented by wood and leather. The finish is medium long, quite intense without any unpleasant tails. A very nice rum
