Here's the twist: this Jamaican pot-still drinks more like a Demerara. Several tasters said blind they'd have guessed Guyana — woody, roasted, butterscotch and vanilla lead, with only a faint varnish and tropical fruit hinting at the island. The palate is surprisingly soft for 59%, with brown sugar, toasted almond and a light minty edge. The funk stays quiet; the finish runs long and warm.

A New Yarmouth with a beautiful label. The nose is somewhere between Demerara, with salted butter caramel and spices, and Jamaican rum, with tropical fruit and a light varnish. The palate is surprisingly smooth, but immediately complex and full-bodied, with toasted almonds and very little ester. The finish is infinite and magnificent, with spices, varnished wood and tropical fruit. A great NY experience. The empty glass is very fruity, very Jamaican.

Another 1994 New Yarmouth, which has probably passed its peak. It is clearly more on the woody spicy side and the fruit takes a back seat. That's not really bad, but far from the leading 1994s.

Solid NY, but it doesn't stand out from the mass of bottlings from the 94 batch. The typical markers are present, initially also a little sticky on the nose. Overall, a little more fruit on the palate than other representatives.

#5498 22.07.2025 Enjoying some samples while watching "Hercules" on HBO Max. Nose Fresh, wood, light roasted, light earthy, faint coconut, faint tannins, light nutts, fruits. Palate Medium intense, fresh, light oily, wood, light roasted, light tannins, fruity, light tobacco, light caramel, light nutty, light citrus. Finish Long and warm, wood, light dried fruit, light caramel, light tannins. Empty glass Vanilla, light chocolate, caramel, light tobacco.

I finally have some New Yarmouth rum from 1994 in my glass. On the nose: First impression is that on a blind tasting it would say that this is demerera rum. Woody, roasted, burnt sugar/butterscotch note and vanilla notes dominate the nose. Taste: Vanilla, demerera sugar, roasted, woody notes. Then you get light minty notes on the background and sweet note is between brown sugar and caramel. Pungent, dark with good level of sweetness. Finish: Woody, light dried fruit note, light spice note. Warm mouthfeel. Medium-long finish I have say that i have mixed feelings about this, because i thought i was sipping some El Dorado rum and i really liked it, but because i don't have reference point on New Yarmouth rums in general, im going to review as it is. I need to find other New Yarmouth 1994 releases and make comparison.

Samaroli New Yarmouth 1994, usual quality. Slightly fruitier, but a little less complex compared to my reference from Rum Artesanal. There are now many bottlings of this vintage and it seems a little overpriced.

Beautifully sweet, creamy, like caramel. A great choice for rum drinkers who want to switch from sweet syrups to pure spirit. New Yarmouth 1994 rarely disappoints. This is a great choice that you will always want to come back to.

Masterclass Samaroli for the Rhum Club Paris /. A magnificent bottle, very pastry-like, with hints of almond, caramel, menthol and red fruit. Medium finish, but a real slap in the face!

This rum need breathing. Much. And I added few drops of water. Nose: not so bright, like Valinch & Mallet 1994. Burnt sugar, leather, winter spices, varnish, cinnamon, roasted almonds, some glue, hint of menthol. Super dry mango & banana chips. Palate: yeah, still sour. Burnt wood, sour cherry, varnish, solvents, dark chocolate, bitter espresso, menthol. Some spices. Very dark & even bitter profile. But, are loosing somewhere the New Yarmouth. Aftertaste: still dark, roasted oak, espresso, varnish, solvents. Conclusion: this one, more simple. Unfortunately, we're loosing Silvano Samaroli, and now, it's just a famous brand, but not the Maestro :( Still tasty, but not a Great !
