Sweet-tooth sippers who still want some cane-juice character will get on well with this Barbancourt. Give it 45 minutes and it opens into tropical fruit, honey, cream toffee and chocolate, with a little oak and spice behind. Most tasters call it very sweet and honey-heavy, but harmonious. The one recurring gripe: the 58.3% alcohol isn't always tucked in cleanly.

Ultra beautiful Haiti Barbancourt. I think it's actually the best one I've had so far. Even more fruity than the 16y old predecessor and extremely mild and delicious. Really great nose of tropical fruit iced tea and also in the taste this note of fresh sour-sweet passion fruit, honey, bitter-sweet kumquats and peach iced tea as well as a slight subtle note of green chili and white chocolate inspires me. The finish is also surprisingly long and intense for a Barbancourt. All in all, very harmonious and highly recommended! Be sure to leave it to stand for at least 45 minutes, then it will fully open up and reveal its full aroma. Thumbs up! My new reference Haiti, would not have thought that a Barbancourt could be so much fun.

While there is still fruit on the nose, the fruit notes are completely overridden by sweetness (caramel) on the palate.

Great Barbancourt. Really nice and creamy with wonderful honey and cream toffee flavors. Very sweet, but still harmonious. Perfect for a relaxing summer evening!

A lively rum with a sweet cane character. The woodiness supports the whole well. Excellent with teriyaki chicken :) After drinking a whole bottle, I can confirm that it's very good... It's lost its liveliness and become darker. A beautiful evolution!

The second of the 3 new RA: Nose: floral, fruity and fresh. The alcohol is also present here, but creates a cool freshness that emphasizes the lovely floral note. There is an immediate intense sweetness of burnt sugar or sugar syrup, accompanied by fresh, yellow lemon and light orange with papaya and something like pear. Some vanilla and light chocolate at the back. Palate: first spicy, then strong and bitter, followed by a blatant amount of chocolate as well as cocoa and vanilla powder. This is followed by a restrained fruitiness that I can't quite place. It remains chocolaty at the end and has a slight hint of aniseed. Not bad at all, especially for an agricole from Haiti 😉.

Delicious Barbancourt! Fruity, sweetish, notes of toffee, chocolate and spices. The nose reminds me of an old Spaniard, and the palate is similar. However, it's also a little thin and the alcohol is at least present. Nevertheless, a nice rum for a very fair price!

Starting of the Easter holiday with a nice sipper: it is quite light on the nose, but the palate is very well balanced and has something of everything that I like. The Alcohol is very well hidden, and this drink rolls of my tongue and calls for more. I wouldn't call it a bargain in general, as this is only 0.5l, but in light of the prices Rum Artesanal and other IBs command it might become difficult to find good rums as this much cheaper these days.

This was a nice surprise especially thinking about the price tag on a bottle. The nose is fruity with wood and spices trailed by a hint of tobacco. The palate is lightly and woody with fruit, spices and chocolate trailed by chocolate and licorice. The finish is lightly dry and woody with spices and raisin. Leave the glass once dry and try to nose it after a few hours, where you'll get the most wonderful bouquet of flavours.

For me, the best Barbancourt so far. The alcohol could be better integrated and the honey sweetness is also very pronounced. You definitely have to like it. But it has more depth than the other bottlings and a nice creaminess. Plus spices and a bit of wood. Doesn't win any awards for complexity, but I like to have it in the glass sometimes.

Edit: Now that I've had other bottlings from Haiti in my glass, this remains my No.1 from the country. At least as of today. For me now the number 1 from Haiti. A nice sweetness but still very spicy. Super tasty in the finish. Makes you want more.

Would have guessed Fiji blind. Because of the dominant, distinctive sweetness, especially on the nose. What were those bubble gums from the 80s called again, Hubba Bubba? 😉 This rum is fun!

In comparison with Liquid Treasures (RX4379): Heavier on the nose and palate, alcohol could have been integrated better. Even after some time in the glass I prefer LT.

Tasted alongside its 16-year-old brother. After it opened up, wonderfully fruity aromas come to you. On the palate again this fine honey sweetness before the woody spicy notes hit with chocolate. I have to correct my opinion, the bitter notes somehow disappeared and I see it a notch ahead of the 16-year-old. 😉 Very nice bottlings, both of them, and miles away from the standard.

Caramel, toasted coconut on the nose. A little oak. Pours golden. Mouth has all the previous plus a wild touch of potpourri basket that hits after a half second in the mouth. It's like dried lemon peel with ginger or something. The pickled ginger you get with sushi. Fun experience, the Haitian stuff rarely disappoints for me. Sample shared by xamsx.
