Sipped neat, this splits the room: at 64% the alcohol runs hot and, for several tasters, badly tied in. Expect woody, roasted notes with raisin, vanilla and a touch of chocolate on the finish. It's the palest of the 2001 Skeldons, and a few felt it tasted thin and "quite weak on the flavours" for the mark — more Port Mourant than classic Skeldon to some. Resting the glass helps a lot.

I like this one. Despite the ABV the rum comes off warm and not alcoholic once rested. Really nice balance between fruit, wood and spices and I like the chocolate on the finish. The empty glass reveals even clearer flavours.

One can already perceive the Skeldon profile, but the alcohol is not well integrated. Unlike the other 2001 Skeldon, this is very bright, so uncolored.
