Most tasters land on "very nice, but not remarkable" — a textbook Foursquare that plenty enjoy without quite loving. Expect coconut, vanilla, dried fruit and toffee with a spicy, gently woody edge, and a finish several call surprisingly sweet for a cask-strength Barbados. Cracked open the next 3 from the batch I got from my wife. This is a really nice and warming Foursquare. Fruity with spices and nice wood. Price to quality is OK at release but they popped up ppm auction pretty fast.

To be honest, I don't find this bottling as outstanding as it is rated here. The typical Foursquare markers are clearly recognizable, but I detect a slight off-note on both the nose and the palate. In the direction of musty/fusty. Unfortunately, this prevents it from getting a better rating. Maybe it was the sample, but I'm used to better from Foursquare.

I find both the bottle and the box magnificent and transporting back in time. It is 58% proof. Its color is a light amber gold. The nose is typical of Foursquare, with vanilla overlaying fruity, exotic fruit aromas. A background of coconut powder and toffee languorously coat the nostrils in more pastry-like accents. A few nuts make their appearance on the second nose: pecans, tonka beans. There's also honey and a hint of milk chocolate. Delicious! I didn't have all these fragrances when I first tasted it, and I'm thinking that this rum needs a good aeration to fully express itself. On the palate, the alcohol is very well integrated, and you're immediately plunged into an episode of Black Sails. The sweetness of exotic fruits invades the palate, along with the sweetness of caramel toffee. Brighter spices take over behind, with cardamom, cloves and gingerbread. All the way through, there's the creaminess of coconut, but it's light compared to other Foursquares. A distinguished woodiness appears on the second palate. The finish is long and pleasant, on dried fruit (grapes), spices (cinnamon, vanilla), and sticks of syrupy licorice.

I really thought this Foursquare was a real bomb, but unfortunately not, also reactively sweet on the finish. Sure, tropical fruits, especially coconut, can be recognized here, but also caramel, chocolate, and a bit woody again.

If you want to take a break from technical and ester-heavy rums, this is exactly what you should try. After a long time, I needed something “sweeter,” and I found it here. The aroma and taste are fruity and sweet, with subtle wood in the background, and the finish is warm and medium-long.

... Foursquare is a distiller from Barbados producing amazing rums for everyday drinking. It's a rum that will be appreciated especially by Rumarians who are fed up with sugar and are looking for a smooth, sweet rum full of coconut, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Just pleasant and not aggressive flavours.

Very pleasant Foursquare, which clearly stands up to its "brother" from Distilia's Floral Rum Series. Dried fruit and wood complement each other perfectly. Alcohol is well integrated, but can still be felt strongly in the finish.

As with the Dwarf Poinciana, you'll find the classic Foursquare profile here, although the profile here almost drifts a little more towards NY94. Overall, I like it very much, but it doesn't stand out from the crowd enough to make a purchase recommendation.

My first from the golden Piracy series. A beautiful FS, lots of dark fruit, a light aroma of long standing banana puree and nice spices, leather round off the whole thing and you have a nice but only hint of coconut throughout. The alcohol is well integrated and the finish (sweet) is very long. I like it! I'd love more!

I tested it blind and you can immediately recognize the Foursquare with its typical coconut, plus cocoa, chocolate, and caramel. But everything is very smooth. On the palate, coconut, and the alcohol is quite restrained for 58%. If you want a rather delicate rum that still brings some aromas and is quite harmonious, it's a nice thing. I would have liked it a bit stronger. #49:261004

Typical Barbados notes of coconut and some citrus. Plenty of notes of coconut, fully ripe mango and vanilla. Some wood. Very fruity finish of mango and peach. Alcoholic at the beginning, but is quickly replaced by fruit and coconut. Clearly compensates for the pungent alcoholic start.
