Agricole drinkers who want a woody, peppery single cask will find plenty to chew on here. The nose is fruity and fresh — grape, apple, apricot — with a caramel edge and faint smoke, then the palate turns spicy: nutmeg, clove and a real hit of pepper, going grassy and earthy on the way out. At 52.8% the alcohol sits well. A couple of tasters wish it had more body.

Once again, to get started, a few Agricoles... Nose: balanced fruity, spicy-woody and also fresh-floral. For fruit I find a nice mix of grape, apple and quince, plus some apricot. Quickly comes a clear caramel note, with a slight smokiness. Maybe also lighter, bright maple syrup. Behind that the cask comes into play, with vanilla and a slight pepperiness. With a deep draw also some vinegar appears. Nice nose. 8.4 Palate: spicy-bitter and yet at the very beginning somewhat thin. This thin mouthfeel is quickly caught again by the wood. Nutmeg, some clove and plenty of pepper give a strong spice. At the back it becomes clearly grassier and even strongly earthy, increasingly herbal. 7.6 Spicy Agricole that overall pleases, even if on the palate it is a bit too peppery and earthy for me. ABV fits perfectly.

Single Cask Agricole from J.M have never disappointed me. This one is also very tasty. An easy sipper that lacks some volume and intensity on the palate despite 7 years of barrel aging. Here, in the vain search for "more," you quickly slurp down 2 cl.

#4462 11.11.2023 Enjoying a few samples before I have to give a tasting close to my home. Advantage is I can walk there and back really fast so I can participate as well. Really nice release with a nice fruity profile and a faint smoky note throughout the profile. The palate is fresh and oily with fruit and spices. Wood and ABV are pretty well integrated. The finish is medium to long with a nice vegetal note. Draws really nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has light caramel and nutts.

On the nose quite intense with toasted barrel, almost charred, sweet dried fruits (apricots), yellow fruits (plums), a bit of citrus, tobacco, floral and in the finish also a sweet note. On the palate it is delicate and soft with sweet dried fruits, lots of pepper, slight charred barrel, some other spices and citrus. The finish is medium with predominance of citrus, pepper, sweetness, fruits and a bit of cognac. In the empty glass dry and aged wood. Thanks to Roberto for the sample. Oscillates between 8.6 and 8.7.

Long time i wanted to get my hand on this one. A 10% sale at rum stylez make me jump the fence (A big thanks to David over there in Kortrijk for the work and the passion underneath). Im glad i did! A great JM. Sweet and fruity. Wonderfully fresh on the palate. All in perfect sync, abv and spices play their part at the right volume. Tertiary aromas and Licorice to be noticed! A treat at a very good quality/price ratio
