Chairman's Reserve Master's Selection (Van Wees 100th Anniversary) 2011
People broadly like this one but few are floored by it. The nose splits opinion — some get peach, coconut and glue, others find it neutral fast — while the palate wins folks over: caramel, toffee, coffee, hazelnut and a lot of dry oak that several tasters compare to an older armagnac or cognac. An active cask on a column-still St. Lucia.

The look inside the bottle
How does Chairman's Reserve Master's Selection (Van Wees 100th Anniversary) 2011 taste?
Aggregated from 29 community reviews.
Woody, armagnac-like St. Lucia sipper Well-liked, wood-driven St. Lucia with armagnac-like tannins and roasted coffee notes. The catch: a few find it one-dimensional and the fruit fades on a thinnish finish.

A pure experience, quite a bit going on the palate and nose.... Recommended despite the low price

Pleasant tropical fruit notes on the nose, a little from the barrel. There is also something for the Pattex sniffer. Then comes the first sip, the bouquet is immediately accompanied by relatively strong, dark, woody and mocha-like notes. One of the better chairmen for me!

Lots going on in the nose. Definitely a more adventurous rum than the usual Chairman's. More funk and fierce chemical/estery odours. Taste: very woody. Lots of dry tannins. Like an older armagnac/cognac. Wood spices. Warm. Active cask: hell yes! A very interesting, wooddriven spicy St Lucia. An indie cask so less gentle than most Lucias. Its little more than 40euros so bang for your buck!!! Get it if you like the more pungent/aggresive St. Lucias. Edit: make pinewood an official tasting note!

Toller Chairman's.

Surprisingly close to the Spanish style, lots of oak influence, which is expressed in vanilla and caramel sweetness. Alongside this, rather subtle impressions of spices, very one-dimensional overall.

St. Lucia World Cup Tasting Fresh bright herbal notes, alongside dry leathery hints A little fruit and esters on the palate. Actually a nice mix and better than the nose. Just shy of a better rating.
